I was wondering what that means; can I connect a cdj or a s1200 player and still control the volume and play the music even if the computer freezes. And are the low/mid/highs also working!

This would be my important factor when chosing between a SC6000 or the S4

Parially, yes, you can connect a single device to Input Channel D. It has a gain/volume control on the back and when switched to output to the master out it will play. The signal won't pass through the channel controls (EQs, faders). It's definetely not convinient to use it for playing a set with it, but for emergancy it's OK.

The Denon MC6000 is a full scale mixer/hybrid unlike the S4. You could have 1-4 external sources connected and get the full mixer controlls for them (EQ, faders, X-fader). The options for switching from USB/MIDI to external sources are very well designed on the MC6000 so it would be a very convinient hybrid if set correctly.

An important note is that the MC6000 will not do DVS (source: Denon). DVS setup would only be possible with the S4.

Okej Thanks! I am not using dvs systems yet. But thinking to buy two S3700 in the future; does that mean I can't use them as midi controllers with the SC6000? Because that seems little bit stupid of Denon. (or they want you to use the x600 or x1600 for that).

as button/knob controllers, yes you will be able to use them with the MC6000, but w/o the spinning platter. There's also no statement from NI about spinning platter supports in general, so something might be on the way (i'm an optimist). AFAIK, Denon are not planning to apply for TSP/DVS/TimeCode control certification for the MC6000. Traktor does not support spinning platter as MIDI/HID yet.

My personal 2 cents: S4 would work great with the S3700 as hybrid controllers as it will support Time Code soon after the launch.

If you'd like additional info, please go outside of the S4 Q&A thread. Either create a new thread or PM me.

    Cheers!

So what you are saying is that the S4 will support a spinning platter of the S3700 in Traktor !

The S4 software is planned to get the DVS feature enabled.

DN-S3700's new firmware has a Hybrid feature: Timecode generator in the DSP + MIDI/HID for the buttons. The new firmware is not GA yet but will be released soon.

Most likely, it will work. Can't say it for sure, but the probability is very high.

The future can present other options, not known at this point. Lot of possibilites exist.

I have another question about the C and D lines. How do you switch between the Traktor 3th and 4th lines (C and D) and the external CDJ. The buttons just switch A to C (so that the jogg wheel steers the C instead of the A channel. But which fader is then activ? is that the A? Probably/logically the fader that says C. But how you get the signal from the external cdj into a fader!

He he he , that's funny. My Macbook internal drive is 80 Gig , you sure like to keep it safe as far as free memory is concerned. I am keeping 20Gig free & it seems sufficient , but 50 seems a bit of an overkill.....

As far as S4 is concerned, I will just settle for DJtechtools midifighter mapping & rock the sample juggler there...

Not looking to upgrade the hardware, but will patiently wait for the software release.
