possible bug in ts duo 1.2.1 : (can anyone else try this to confirm? i tested this many times and so far its like this)

Upon Starting the program, you have to IMMEDIATELY play the lead-in track on both cdjs (tested on cdjs only - dunno bout vinyl havent tried)
if you do this... then everything is fine - control things with cdjs and you can even click on the play button using the mouse (turns off timecode mode) but clicking on the DISC symbol enables the timecode again

    But...
    try this:

Start the program, Do other things first (do beat gridding, click on the PLAY button on any of the decks etc) and then play the lead-in track on both or any of the decks...
nothing happens? you wont be able to control the decks with the control cds, the only way to fix this is to shut down traktor and open it again and play the lead-in track immediately after starting up

Solution on Traktor PRO: Click on the "RST" button on the bottom right of the timecode boxes and then it will display "Waiting", now you play the lead-in track off the cdj and everything is perfect.

On traktor duo: The option to see the timecode boxes next to the decks A and B is not available, the only way to see the timecode boxes is in the PReferences and even so, there is no "RST" button?

am i missing something or is this the way it is?

    anyone experiencing something like this?

is there any way to enable the "SCRATCH BOX" on TS DUO? Or is there any way to "RESET" the timecode cds if needed on duo?

The way I use my RST button on Duo is by using a MIDI control. You can assign the RST or calibration button on a MIDI control. I am, too, looking for a way where I can have the Scratch Box appear on 1.2 Duo. But at the same time, I am thinking on why do I need that Scratch Box on the decks in the first place? :p

well if you dont use control cd/vinyl theres not much need for the scratch box

but those with control cd/vinyl ==> This is SUICIDE MISSION!

Imagine mid-set in front of 600 people (or 1000!) and not being able to RECALIBRATE your control cd/vinyl! OMG DISASTER!

I really think this is a serious issue!

I'm with you on this issue. However, since I'm kinda new to this software, I don't know how important it is to have the Scratch Box visible. BUT, I understand the calibration button is crucial.

So what I did was to make a hotkey or assign the calibration button on my MIDI control instead of using a mouse. And you can assign the calibration button on your keyboard as well.

I don't know if that Scratch Box makes much significant while spinning at a club or at a big event. (I am skeptic when spinning live).

In my point of view, how often do we need to see that calibrating circle moving around while we're are spinning tunes? Shouldn't it always be the same circle size after calibrating? And if the wave and deck display doesn't cooperate as usual, that should tell us that the deck needs to be calibrated.

Again, I'm kinda new to this software, I don't know what it is like to see the calibration circle spinning around at a club or parties. But all I know is that I can still calibrate my decks without the Scratch Box.

actually, no you dont really need to see the scratch box, its just nice to know that its there tho! and its nice to know that with a click of a button (the 'RST' button) you can resolve any issue with the timecoding

    example situation:

you are taking over another dj whos playing before you, in this case sometimes its impossible to "Calibrate" both decks at the same time during startup (the other dj is still playing the last track on one of the decks)

in this case you use the other deck that the dj isnt using and connect your cables etc to that deck, start up traktor and calibrate that one deck, and cue a music (yours) to mix/drop before the last song of the dj before you finishes.

Now, some people mix on the other dj's last track to start theirs and some people wait until the track finishes and starts a fresh new track - whichever you choose, once the last song of the dj before you finishes you need to HOOK-UP and Calibrate that other deck in traktor....

ok now lets say when you play the lead-in track on the other deck, and it doesnt respond? you are STUCK with one working deck? without a 'RST' button for the timecode calibration this would b a very scary scenario!

I see what you mean. I had a situation when I was stuck with one deck after playing my original vinyls before my timecode. And at that time, I didn't know that all I had to do was to press the 'RST' button to solve the problem and end up stopping the music and restarting TSD all over again.

But coming back with the issue were the Scratch Box doesn't appear on the decks, I wonder if it is a bug. Ever since I updated my Duo to 1.2, the Scratch Box doesn't appear in the decks. Duo is a strip-down version of Pro. I hope they didn't strip it down even more when we updated our Duo to 1.2. And with that said, I hope they compensate us with the possibility to have the recording option on our TSD :p

i just learned in another thread that one of the predefined layouts includes the scratch panels - but, you have to had to choose "audio 4 scratch" (or something similar) on the initial startup in the setup wizard. you have to restart the setup wizard to choose again!

i did this but still no luck

the only options available is : DEFAULT LAYOUT ?

I tried restarting the startup wizard and choosing audio4DJ (traktor scratch) but still the only available thing is "DEFAULT LAYOUT" ?

    Definitely with you on this

I had a gig this past weekend and I had to restart 3 separate times. This is kind of frustrating. However once you get it running it works great. I have always been a supporter of Traktor Pro however it seems that with every update it is something always new. Just recently when I did my update, now if my Audio 8 dj is not connected upon the initial start up of the Comp Traktor will not read the the interface. Why?

In order to get the Scratch Panel back on the decks, reinstall Duo.
