before contacting NI support, wanted to check if the following behaviour of traktor is normal.

i have hooked up for the first time my traktor scratch duo system to two technics mk2 decks and audio4dj interface, calibrated the vinyls, which went through just fine. playback sounds fine aswell, but the second most important thing, the sync, does not seem to function properly, or at least as it does when playing back internally, without decks.
tempo on track goes up and down rapidly in small increments (if tempo is 128, BPM meter will rapidly shift between, e.g. 127.960 - 128.040), just as if i was quickly moving pitch on my decks up and down.

second thing, when pressing a sync button for the other deck, tracks go in sync, but immediatly start drifting away. when i press sync again, it goes back to sync, but starts falling apart again and this time it will maybe start drifting in the opposite direction.

is this supposed to be this way? ich don't think so, right?

my keylock is on and i have made sure my tracks are beatgridded correctly (using a lot of my own productions).

    Traktor Pro De-Syncing

Alas not a reply I'm afraid the paragraphs above

This is my problem as well. Sometimes the sync button divides itself diagonally, the bottom half fills in yellow! This is really frustrating, as you said, the only solution so far is to close Traktor down and then open it up again, but the problem seems to return after a few songs. Again this cannot be an ideal solution especially if playing out live! Tractor is promoted as take your mind of the beatmatching and concentrate on the mix! I cannot find anything in the manual to help me, and hope someone can help as 'm starting to get pretty p****d off.

    It is fairly simple.

If you are using vinyl in scratch mode, TSPro follows the timecode. The speed of a record deck is not constant. Therefore the tempo of your tracks will vary (127.960 - 128.040 would be typical). All record decks have some degree of wow and flutter.

Pressing the sync button in scratch mode will align your slave deck to the master momentarily. Then, as your decks tempo varies slightly, they will go out of sync again, because TSPro is following the timecode.

However, if you are using Scratch Mode and you want to drop in a song and get it to stay in sync (to 'concentrate on the mix'), then switch that deck in Traktor to internal before you sync. Now Traktor is disengaged from the timecode and will slave to the master tempo.

So basically: Scratch mode - Traktor will follow the timecode
Internal mode - Traktor will be able to slave to the master

The sync modes are explained in the manual. The diagonal box mode is explained in one of the addendums that came with an update.

You can set a midi command to timecode -> scratch mode -> relative or absolute. Or click on the GUI relative or absolute button.

thanks for your help. so it turns out it is not possible to have both pitches on physical decks at 0%u0025 and sync tracks in absolute mode.

is there a video or written tutorial on how to use scratch with decks (not just how to use internal mode).

Thanks for the reply, but that really relates to the post above mine and TSPro, I'm running Traktor Pro so all the timecode stuff is irrellavent to me - I simply just want 2 tracks to beatmatch on their own while I concentrate on other things.....

does this mean i have to ride physical pitch myself when in scratch mode? i cannot leave both pitches at 0%u0025 and push sync button and still have vinyl control?

I have a question on the Tracktor Duo. Could I set up a playlist playing live in which the playlist fades in when the next song is beginning to start to play.

Yes, if you want vinyl control then Traktor will follow the timecode, even after you momentarily sync your tracks.
    ---
I'm not really understanding the question. If you mean - can you have a playlist where the tracks automatically crossfade into each other - yes, Duo has 'Cruise mode'.

What exactly does the "Sync" doing when only the bottom right diagonal yellow is indicated? I didn't get the addendum, I bought my Traktor Scratch Pro new and the manual and info that came with it is very, very basic. I have learned much more about this software through the forum. So Thanks for all your help guys.

It means there is no master to sync to, but as soon as a track is set as master it will sync. The addendum is a PDF downloaded with the update.

I'm having the same problems and don't really understand this "limitation".

When my decks are in vinyl mode, there are slight movements in tempo (like .01 or .02) so i'm guessing this is wow and flutter from the turntable, but when Deck C (internal) is trying to sync to Deck A (Vinyl mode) there's a larger difference in tempo (1.00 - 0.30).

Shouldn't the tempo fluctuations be the same on both decks if one is following the other?
