    Hi,

2days ago went for Traktor Scratch duo , I found the manual not very helpful at all rarther slap dash cutting corners But with the help of this forum and some youtube vids managed to set the thing up , I suppose as time goes by i will face loads of little hurdles along the way but most if not all traktor bible etc can help me out.

The 1 thing i would like to ask all traktor users is this , Do you prepare your tracks b4 you DJ or do you do it on the fly?

Eg .. Do you sit at home b4 a gig and set the cue points , and make sure the grids hit the beats correct etc , or do you do this as your playing . Ive been DJing for 6 years started on vinyl , then moved to CD now im going digital so im just a bit worried IF im trying to prep a track while DJing Live in a club it could go tits up and songs running out while im still trying to get everything bang on !

1 last thing , a major confusion is the amount of wires , Bloody nora having to pull the mixer out and unplug wires all the time seems like a major ball ache , I found on a youtube video how you can take regualr Phono / RCA leads and make it so you never have to mess with the mixer u just take it direct from CDJ , See clip below.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBx_RHjLh7Y

Has / would anyone recommend this as a safe option / it seems so easy this way.

(p.s keep up good work on this forum massive help for us beginners)

Matter of a fact, yes I do sit at home bevor a gig and not only prepare the tracks (cuepoints, looppoints and also if necessary tap out the beat) but I also create a playlist....this does not mean I will stick to only those song, but let's say I need about 120-200 per Gig, so I sit down and pick out of my library around 500 songs that I think will fit the theme of the night, the club as well as the audience, prepare all those picked songs (if they aren't allready prepared), after putting them into a new playlist, sort by bpm and consolidate and save that list!
Of course there are some track I still re-edit in the club whilst the other song is playing, but I'm always trying to get most of my pre-work done before the actuall gig!;)

Is it possible to use the sync mode with when using timecode CDs ?

The master button does not stay on the deck playing , and when u press sync on the opp deck nothing happens and sync does not go on BUT if you press sync on the deck what is playing it seems to then match the tempo BUT obvious such a sudden change in tempo sounds terrible.

Why can't i use the sync function on the deck im cueing into the mix in my headhpones ? that way it will move to the correct tempo and will not change the tempo of the master track playing.

Is this a school boy error or a general setting problem

    Any help would be great.

Have you got Master Tempo on the actual CDJ turned ON ?
This has to be turned OFF for TSP to work with Timecode CDs.

    Yes its off !

I have seen on another forum it is NOT possible for sync mode to work using timecode CDs.

To use this function you would have to have a midi controller , not use timecode .

Gutted looks like im gonna have to sell and re buy midi

please, can everybody please stop saying that you cant sync with timecode?

of COURSE you can sync with timecode, be it vinyl or cds, the only thing that does not work compared to internal playback is the sync-lock.

i'm really tired repeating this over and over during the last weeks.

For me Thats all i want just a quick sync so the tempos / beatgrids are as close as they can be then i can kind of nudge the rest into time.

The main problem i find is it only works when it wants to , In order for Sync to work in timecode is for 1 of the traktor decks to have master tempo on , BUT its like 1 day the master tempo will work , then another day it does not stay on.

Is there something you have to do or is there something im doing wrong ?

yeah, you were kidding, but Mr Short wasnt... grmpfh.

the tempo has to be right i order for sync to work properly.
this means, the track should have a correct beatgrid. if the beatgrid (and/or the calculated tempo) is off, then sync wont work. pretty logical.

also, with timecode you better use MAN(ual) master mode, or, always check before mixing that the master has switched to the right deck. i prefer to set the master manually to be sure in every situation, so i use MAN mode.

    Hi,

I'm an uber n00b and I'm just getting into dj-ing. I'm not really sure where to ask this, but it has to do with Traktor Scratch Duo so I figure this would be best. This is my setup

    (x1) Behringer DJX700
    (x2) Denon DN-S1200

I recently bought Traktor Scratch Duo and I'm just starting to play around with it. Right now I set up my Traktor with the timecode CDs and the Audio 4 DJ. Is there a way I can just use both my Turntables as MIDI controllers and just connect them straight to my computer and still use my external mixer? I'm not really sure what the best set up for me would be.

ANY help would be appreciated (again, uber n00b).

    Thanks!
