ok i expected it to jump back to relative

that the track starts from the beginning is because the timcode vinyl has three areas and the first area is the lead in, commanding traktor to jump back to th ebeginning of the song

is it possible for you to test out another interface?

Unfortunately I only have the audio 4Dj - tomorrow, however, I plan to test it using my laptop, as opposed to my pc, will report my findings.

    Native instruments e-mailed me back with the following;

    'Hello Mark Mears,

normally you'll see that the point where the two calibration circles 'hit' each
other is always in the upper left or in the lower right.

If it is like in your screenshot (lower left or upper right), then you have a
'phase switch' in one of the cable coming from your turntable).

This usually happens with so called 'pickering' systems, where you can connect the
individual wires in a wrong way which leads to a phase shift.

See this picture for better understanding
    http://www.special-hifi.de/images/res/Pickering_V15AC2_001_150_113.jpg

Please check the connection of this 4 wires in your system and change this or let
this be repaired by some technician. '

What 4 wires is he talking about? Those in the cartridge, or the connections to the audio 4 dj?

Well good news folks! That's what it was! Damn wiring was wrong!

Thank you so much for all the help folks.

    Happy spinning!

Hey guys ive been a vinyl DJ for over 8 years now, and finally have decided to change to a digital system.

After looking at all the systems that are available at the moment, i've best stumpled upon the NI Traktor Scratch DUO

Now, im actually 22 years old, and just got into this university which im paying so I dont have too much cash. ( especially after the huge collection of vinyl that I own )

Ive got the following Powerbook (bit outdated but stable) It is empty and only for DJ use

    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/stats/powerbook_g4_1.33_15.html

My question is, will I be able to run TSD on this Powerbook, which will ONLY be used for this matter, im not going to use any effects or filters,no key syncing, just basically playing the songs of TSD and doing the rest with an external mixer and turntables.

Ive tried the normal Duo test version, works fine but im sure it is totally different when using the TSD version with the soundcard, turntables etc. I dont know anybody that owns it so i could test it, and we dont have any place around here to go and test it so this is why im asking you all.

Does anybody have any information on this ?
Do any of you use it the way I will and what computer do you own ?
have you had problems with it freezing, or latency ?

Which are the problems that I may stumble upon with my current notebook ?

I would love to get a new notebook, but it is just impossible at the moment. And I just cant keep spending so much money on vinyl, all the money I make in one night goes straight to wax ! I love DJin and beatmatching and mixing on hardware, I really hope I can keep this feeling digitally ! get what I mean ?

Thank you a lot in advance :)

    Hey Dario
    Welcome to the forum! ;)
I believe your notebook simply isn't fast enough and/or has enough ram to run any DVS-Software stable and reliably even if you don't use effects, keylock and/or sync (all of which you are gonna wanna use sooner or later- Trust me!:D)!
    Sorry...

thanx for the quick reply :D

yeah well, I thought it would be like this....:(

So next question is, do you recommend Mac or PC ?

since Macs are more expensive I will have to save up more, otherwise there are some other powerful notebooks out there that would probably do the job, and arent to expensive !

    thanks again guys

    Dario

Traktor runs very well on PCs....but don´t buy a cheap one....it also must a little bit quality...
When u buy a Apple, u will pay much more for the same hardware, and this makes no sense....

anyone else has the problem that the sound starts cracking after traktor is finished with analysing the song?

I use traktor scratch duo with audio4 on a dual core 1.6ghz 1gb ram laptop.

first I thought it was my hardware and I tried changing every possible settings but my timecode vinyl just wouldnt calibrate correctly (didnt matter what latency or buffer size I tried). Now I've found out that if I calibrate during a new song that I loaded (so when it's still analyzing) it calibrates and plays just fine. But then when analyzing is finished it starts cracking.

seems to be a software issue? anyone has a idea what I should try?

    Welcome To The Forum.

You should certainly not try to play a track when another is being analysed if you are.
Analysis should be done before any playback as analysis is CPU heavy and if you add that to playback you are putting to much load on the CPU.

Also it has to be said that you are at the minimum spec required for Traktor to run smoothly with Keylock on.

You have a minimum spec processor and you should idealy have 2gb Ram to get the best out of Traktor.
If you can add another gig of ram you see a huge increase in performance.

Please fill out your hardware specs in your Profile mate.

    thanks.

I know, but the strange this is that it only calibrates correctly during analyzing, and plays correctly during analyzing. after the analyzing is done the cracking sound immediately starts and basically everything goes to ****.

I've tried it on another pc with with 2gb ram and a AMD3700+ and had the same problem (although I had to use an USB extension cord so that might also be a problem). going to try it on another (new) laptop of a friend to see if there's still problems.

Right now the cheapest option is to buy TSP or TSD completely new.

Keep in ming that you have to buy a scratch version, else you can't use timecode.

Hey Traktor members, I have bought "Traktor Scratch Duo",
but can't seem to make it work correctly... Can somebody help me?

    Situation:
I would like to make my traktor software work with my CDJ 1000 MK3's

    Problems:
    - When the Audio 4 Dj device is plugged with all its cinch cables, the sound quality isn't good at all ( also when i play normal cd's )?

    - I can't seem to calibrate?

    - In traktor i can"t find the presets for CDJ 1000's , only for CDJ 400's

Thank you in advance for the help!

Hey guys, quick question for ya

I upgraded to duo last week (for $80), didn't have much luck setting it up to my mixdeck and un-registered it after a few hours. Now that traktor pro is half price for $115 and I wondering if its possible If i can completely un-register duo and then buy trator pro for the difference of the two ($35)? Do you think this is possible?

    Thanks!

Hello! I'm new here and I got a question for you all who can help me. I have gotten Traktor Scratch Duo over a year, but now I updated my version to newest 127. I figured out how to enable scratch panels, but I use external gear so I don't need phase meters, crossfader, EQs and that stuff.. So can someone please help me out here! Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.

Some details are not switchable in Duo.
Please check Preferences to se which details can be removed.
Layout Manager is not available in Duo.

Just bought Scratch Duo and am pulling my hair out trying to beatgrid my tracks. Here's my problem.

Firstly, I don't see the beatmarker next to track name, so knowing whether the playhead is at 1.1.1 or not is impossible, which means I can't use the Traktor Bible tutorial.

Secondly, even though I've set it to show Beats in Preferences, the white line markers show volume peaks, not the beats, since they're not evenly spaced.

Lastly, the buttons in the advanced menu next to the padlock symbol to move and adjust the grid don't seem to perform as they should when reading tutorials.

With a 4 beat loop set up, clicking those buttons doesn't adjust the length of the loop.

Has anyone had problems setting beat grids in Duo? Can anyone offer advice or help? Hope so, I'm DJ'ing next week!
