Yes, for cd's you have to change the "input mode" to "line" in the seperate audio 4 settings tool.

    Question:

    TraktorDUO w/ Novation Nocturn?

    Pros and Cons?

Or is there any other MIDI that is better and cheap?

All I want to do is to use the loops and fx without using the laptop.

    Thanks

    Guys hello everyone.

I just bought traktor scratch duo but i´m having a problem with the timecode setup.

I installed everything correctly and the soundcard is working just fine but my problem is that i can´t seem to find the way to play with the timecode cds because i can´t even calibrate them.

I mean, in traktor pro when you connect everything the calibration just starts by itself and 2 two circles representing each jogwheel show up.
( a friend of mine has the pro version and he showed me...)

In traktor scratch duo i can´t even put those same circles appearing on the screen.

What do i need to do ?

    Thanks in advance...

    Quote from raineht:

    - open help menu, click setup wizard
    - top list choose "no or other controller"
    - bottom list choose "A4DJ Scratch"
    - click apply

    Hope this works ;)

Actually i´ll only find out tomorrow because i don´t have my own CDJ´s so i have to ask a friend of mine who owns a club and try this there.

Tomorrow i´ll come back here to tell if everything is finally working as it´s suppose to.

U need to check the input mode.. on the audio 8 there is a physical button, on the audio 4 you need to do this through the seperate audio 4 driver setup tool (so not in traktor).

    good luck

    It worked!

I didn´t have much time to try the all thing but at least it is finally working.

I´m going to ask the shop where i bought TSD if they do workshops about it in order to gain more experience with it...

One question that i have now is that i couldn´t get the sync locked and when i pushed it the tracks where synced but only for a few seconds...

    Any suggestion about this ?

    Thanks

So i've done my test ride this weekend in a club. I've reinstalled my whole operating system before moving my former Traktor Scratch Pro setup to a Traktor Scratch Duo one. Honestly i think it's the same software; even the same setup kits. It just switch between TSPro or TSDuo by the means of the serial number you give in.

Also, i've made a "Audio Performances" hardware profile (windows) and disabled onto that profile every hw part i do not use while playing, wireless lan, lan, tcpip, firewall, a load, a **** load of windows services (dhcp, ip helper, support center and 100000 more) as well... I think this really helps to get your computer onto audio only and nothing else.

On the software itself, i've got to say that i tought it was lighter and operate a lot smoother compared to TSPro. Again, what i seek is the most decent vinyl emulation. So i guess it was a good move for me. Noticed also that the loop engine is tighter onto where the loop start, it starts directly onto the next hit indeed...

Though, i still want to know if it's possible to install both version on the same computer ?

    thanks,
    cheers,
    8b.

If you have serial numbers for both versions you can swtich between them by entering the serial number for the desired flavour in the Service Center and activating it. Then after starting Traktor the activated version is available.

But honestly I don't think that this makes any sense, because you can downstrip Traktor Pro to Duo by not using the Pro Onlay Features.

And I think you cannot have two different installations (i.e. one for Pro and one for Duo) because this would cause conflicts due to the way the activating process is handled internally.

hello! im about to purchase traktor scratch duo and need to know a few basics before i dive in:

Does it matter which decks/ mixer im using? ive got stanton t120s and a urei 1601 mixer, will these work ok?

also what are the recommended laptop specs? im currently running an old laptop with these specs:

    windows xp
    Intel celeron m cpu
    420 @ 1.60 ghz
1.60 ghz, 0.99 gb of ram

will this be enough to run it comfortably?

    thanks in advance

You're just at the edge of it's specification. Personaly, I recommend more ram.

And yes, your turntables and mixer works with DUO.

Any chance of listing what you think are the bare minimum components for running TSP/TSD?

I had a go with services a while back to no avail (was for a firewire mixer though)

Does Traktor Scratch Duo not have 'Snap' mode? The button isnt there like on TSP

but when i press loop it does 'snap' onto the beat like it does in snap mode. So is it just automatically engaged?

In DUO loops always snap to the next gridline of the beatgrid, i.e. the Snap function is always enabled. And you can't switch that off.

And because you cannot switch this feature off you cannot set a Loop In or Loop Out Point at any position as you can in PRO, but at beatgrid lines only.

Sure just give me a little time and i'll post something here. I might make a RTF file with screen shots, would be a bit more easy then for folks to check and apply if relevant for them...
