    Midi Controllers for effects

    Hey,
can anyone recommend a good midi controller to assign the effects panel and looping functions of traktor scratch duo! i,d like something with faders or 360 degree roatating knobs for effect wet/dry parameters, also possible a system with dual setting pads, i.e. i can flick a switch, and assign effects for Deck A, then flick it onto setting 2 and the effects are assigned to Deck B (also good if there was one where i could assign efects to both decks!) Been looking at the korg nano series (NanoKontrol). Is this a good place to start? Cheers

Hold off on NanoKontrol;) It maybe incompatable with Duo. I'm trying to get the 'tsi.' mapping file so I can control NanoKontrol on Duo.

Other than that, go to 'DJ Controllers' in this forum. I'm sure you'll find many type of midi effects people experience in the past. Just be advised, Duo is a bit different than other TS :p

As soon as I find the file, I'll let you know :D

Why would the NanKontrol be incompatible with Duo?

    That makes no sense.

How about the nano pad? seen a video with james zabiela messing around with it, but he is using pro rather than duo.

Only in the number of features and decks. It is exactly the same program as TSP in architecture.

There is no reason any of the Korg Nano series wont work with Duo.

I'm thinking of the same thing. If the device works on Pro, why not on Duo?

I feel like I'm missing something. ...and its something very stupid too,:p

The problem with the situation is that I can't find the right, compatable mapping file from NanoKontrol for Duo (tsi. files, not tks.). All of the mapping files downloaded from (http://www.korg.co.uk/products/software_controllers/nano/sc_nano.asp) does not work on Duo, and they'er all tks. files.

So, I'm just gonna keep searching and look for answer(s) to this problem. If any of you guys figure out how to work NanoKontrol on Duo, I would greatly appreciate if you let me know how it works. ;)

    Thanks in advance:)

Ok lets put this to bed.

Traktor Duo has is Fully Midi customizable, exactly the same as the any other Traktor product. Period.

I knew it!.... I knew it was something stupid!

Before I commend my stupidity, I would like to apologize to the people who I may have discourage them on getting Duo and/or KorgNano. .....

The problem was, ...the interface wasn't connected all this time:p I've been trying to figure out how to work the Nano without the interface conneted.

    sorry guys :S

Im afraid that the "Jedi Mind Trick" is still under development.
Until N.I. refine the feature it is advisable to 'physically' connect your pieces of hardware.

The Jedi Mind Trick will enable hardware to connect by thought in Traktor Supadupa Pro. No date set for release.;)

Glad you got it sorted Gasa..!

The physical connection was inevitable; "Live long and Prosper."

Hi, I recently had problems with absolute mode with cds but this was solved thanks to you guys, cheers. However I now have another problem, when i press cue on the cdj and load a track and press play/pause or cue on the cdj, the part of traktor where the track is displayed turns all yellow and wont allow me to play the track. I have to reload the track again and it works. Ive noticed, and im pretty sure it only happens when I press cue on the cdj, but if i press pause/play on the cdj and load the track it works fine. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it by any chance?

I would like someone could advise Will_B0 about this because i´m about to do that osx update, and i would like to know if it would make TSD not to work properly...

i think my soundcard may have been faulty, ive sent it back to the company i originally brought it from there going to take a look at it, if they cant sort out the problem there sending a new one. I cant say for sure but i imagine itll be ok, im using it fine without the soundcard so.

hey all, recently bought traktor scratch duo and am fairly happy. one thing though, when i use the pitch fader on my decks the pitch on screen is pretty slow, it sort of drags up and down. im only running a laptop with one gig of ram, is this the issue? ive fiddled with the pitch bend sensitivity setting to no avail.... :(

    Hi!

what's your laptop setup (RAM, CPU etc)? I worry a little about my FJ Amilo PRO (Core Duo 1.83, 1GB - RAM may be extended)... if it would be ok with TSD... I'm planning to use vinyl control with external mixer.

    this is what im running:

    windows xp
    Intel celeron m cpu
    420 @ 1.60 ghz
1.60 ghz, 0.99 gb of ram

id upgrade the ram if possible but i think you'll be ok with that. ive gotten used to the drag now and adapted to it tbh. Just have to be a bit gentler than i used to be. Hope this helps

    playing regular records

just got scratch pro and audio 8 the other day - amazing

but ive got a question and no doubt more dumb ass questions will follow

can you play regular records without having recorded them in, and how might i do this obviously the switch to phono on my vestax mixer isnt going to work because my turntable output is plugged into audio 8 so just wondering if there's an easy way i could play out regular records without having recorded them in and encoding as wav or mp3?

    cheers

So does absolute mode not work properly on Duo or what? I've been scouring this thread but haven't found a ton of helpful info.

Apparently everyone else had similar symptoms.
    1. Set to external Mixer
    2. all inputs/outputs set up properly
    3. Pressing cue and play on the cd player started the track in traktor (relative mode)
    4. Set to Scratch Mode

It seems that everyone else got some sort of error on their timecode calibration. I'm receiving no such error. Perhaps I missed the magic connect the dots reply but It's pretty annoying not being able to access absolute mode.

I've also tried enabling both "enable absolute mode" options for loading and lead in and neither has made any difference.

My setup is 2 Pioneer cdj-200s and a Rane Empath Mixer with an Audio 4 DJ/ Traktor Scratch DUO

Here are some screenshots of my setup for good measure. Any help would be appreciated.
