Hello :D I've just purchased Traktor Scratch Duo couple days ago. So far I'm satisfied with the program. However, I found couple of problems while using the DUO. Before I make complain to NI support, I would like to ask couple question here.

    Here is my set up:
    -2 technics 1200s
    -DJM 300 (2 CH mixer)
    -Audio 4 DJ

    • (Difficult Question) My DUO started to play backwards and program dosn't function well when I put the needle on the Traktor vinyl AFTER I used few of my own regular vinyls. The "Phase Meter" (that shows the offset of the beats of other track) acts wildly while I'm using regular vinyls. If I want the DUO to function correctly, I have to close DUO and restart the program again. This causes a problem to me if I am running a song on DUO and a song on a regular vinyl. Do any of you experience this problem?
    • How can I edit the "Comment" box on the track listing? Only time when I can edit the "Comment" box is when the tracks are in the DUO's "Track Collection." When I am not in the "Track Collection," I see a message at the bottom right corner saying, "not editable." I've checked in ther preference box and can't seem to find a way to disable it, that is, if there is a way. The reason why I like to edit my comment is that while playing a song, I like to comment on my tracks at that time. This makes my track search much easier in the future.
    • And at last, is there a way where I can record my set while using the DUO? I see the "REC" indicator on top of the program but can't seem to find how to set it up in my 'preference' box.

Some or all the question may not apply to you. I would greatly appreiciate it if anyone can answer these question, even if it is a 'sorry I cant answer these question.'

    Thanks! Have a wonderful day!

ad 1. Did you set the Aduio 4 DJ to Timecode Mode and did you calibrate the decks?

ad 2. You can only edit the tags of a track if it is in the collection.

ad 3. No, you can't record your mix in DUO because the internal recoder is disabled. The REC icon in the header is a bit misleading.

THANKS Rainerh! :D I greatly appreciate your reply. I don't know if its me or the DUO's instruction book is retarted. I hope it is the instruction book. It dosn't clarify lots of details about the program. I'll look into more of the calibration of the decks. I think I didn't take too much time on calibration :p

The playing backwards problem mostly occurs if A.) the decks aren't calibrate or B.) (mostly B.) is the case) the needles are dirty / have collected some dust after playing regular vinyl....
So, what you should do is, regularly clean youre needles, I sometimes even do this quickly midset in the club (of course not both needles at the same time), calibrate your decks and perhaps add a little extra weight!

Gasa you from frontallabs yes? hahaha

    Aniways answer to your question:

    The phase meter:
-Did you Grid your track yet? without proper beatgridding the phase meter wont work
-The "up and down" of the phase meter on vinyl is due to the nature of vinyl having wow&flutter, meaning that the tempo jumps very slightly up and down (depending how good your decks are) this is the same with mixing manually on vinyl, unlike cdj no matter how good you beatmatch two tracks you still need to "re-touch" the tracks every once in awhile

    Recording:
Take one RCA to line-in cable and plug the rca into an extra output from your mixer, and the line in cable into line-in on your computer, download a freeware called AUDACITY, go to settings, choose "LINE-IN" and press RECORD, now you can mix and whatever you mix will be recorded by audacity

Did you get a hardcopy or a download....?

......... sometime the hard copy (cd) is out of date.. this used to happen to me until around the time I got the 1.2.2 update.. although I also got new needles around that time.. it went away.. I'd like to think it was more the software.. I'm pretty sure I got 1.2 with mine.. thats was totally fcuked up.. then 1.2.1 came out shortly afterwards and I still haad the weird deck reverse thing happen.. but 1.2.2 is performing great.. but I'd make sure your running the latest version at the very least....

Yep, check your mixer settings in windows because some somecards have a line-in/mic-in mode for that input and you just have to switch it in software to change the impedance.

    Karlos Santos:
i will describe you my settings.

Control panel: sound playback - Audio4DJ
    recording: soundcard creative

I tried with mic-in and line-in in my soundcard and directly, with mic input in my notebook. Soundcard connection with mixer by RCA from booth output to line in ( and later: mic in. ) Result is: no sound or very distorted.

I can't believe that Traktor Scratch Duo doesn't make recording possible. Recording dj sets isn't pro- option! Every newbee must record his mixes to learn from his mistakes

Yeah the RCA output will be screaming load hence the distortion.
It should work with Line-In ?

You may have to lower the volume output from the Audio 4 and the recording level on the Creative but i have no experience of that soundcard. Sorry im strictly Mac.
Im sure someone can try this and help out.

Yeah im afraid Duo has no recording feature.

Well, Duo comes with the Audio 4 DJ Interface....which has less ins/outs than the Audio 8 DJ....and all of its ins&outs are being used for timecode-control...so even if TSDuo had an recording option, into what/where would you plugin the rec out from the mixer?
