    Dear all,

Firstly, to introduce myself, I am Sean a DJ based in the UK.

I am a complete noob to digital DJing (although I have been DJing for about 17 years) and have recently purchased Traktor Scratch Pro 2 - which arrived today.
I have tried searching the forum for answers to my problem with little success so thought I'd post. Apologies if the answer is within theses pages!

Anyway, I have the following set up:

    2 x Technics 1210 MkII
    2 x Denon DNS-3700
    Behringer 4-channel mixer
    iMac 24
    Scratch Pro 2
    Audio 10

I am trying to set this up so that I can output the audio from the Mac rather than having the audio going out through an external amplifier. I have tried everything and do not seem to be able to do this.

If I choose the onboard sound card from the preferences, I get output from the mac but no input from the decks. If I put the sound card to Audio 10, I get input from the decks but no output from the mac.

You may wonder why I don't want to ouput to an amp and the reason for that is I do not need the output to be that loud at home - the output from the mac is ample for home usage.

I am probably just being retarded but I have spent too long looking at the problem and am just confused now!

Any help would be gratefully received!

    Much obliged....

    hi and welcome,

the only way out for Traktor's audio is over your Audio 10! ;-)

if you want to have the decks seperately on you mixer, set Traktor to EXTERNAL MIXING MODE"

please choose your AUDIO 10 in "Audio Setup"
    next page: "Output Routing"

the Master slot is for your amp/speakers the "Monitor Out" is for prelistening/cue over headphones

in external mixing mode you can assign each deck to a pair of outputs 1+2; 3+4 ... ...
Connect the corresponding RCAs to your mixer.

So, are you saying that Traktor must be connected to an external source as well as the Mac?

I have connected RCA's as follows:

    Technics 1 to Audio 10 A input
Audio 10 A output to Mixer channel 1
    Technics 2 to Audio 10 B input
Audio 10 B output to Mixer channel 2
    Denon 1 to Audio 10 C input
Audio 10 C output to Mixer channel 3
    Denon 2 to Audio 10 D input
Audio 10 D output to Mixer channel 4

Audio 10 USB cable to imac.

I realise that the audio 10 is an external soundcard so it makes sense to choose this in the settings as all kit is going through it. However, I thought that I would be able to set up like this and still have the output from the mac speakers (rather than an amp).

When you say you can assign each deck to a pair of outputs, what do you mean?
Taking A as an example, I can choose "Ch A Left" and "Ch A Right" which I presume are the correct options as these are where the RCA's are hooked up.

The only other options available are "Main Left" and "Main Right".

Thanks Tom- now I am sorted with Audio.

I went out and bought some decent Yamaha speakers which outputs my tunes. So now I have sorted that problem, I am now onto bigger and more confusing issues :)

So, my denon's now sort-of work as midi controllers but I don't seem to be able to scroll through the tracks on my imac as I expected to. I am sure Ijust haven't mapped my denons properly.

Do you know if there is a tutorial on how to do this on scratch pro 2 and on the denons?

    Ta!

you need the fitting tsi file, that comes with Traktors additional files.

Go to Preferences > controller manager > and click "export" to safe your current settings

then delete in Traktor the "saved" controller mapping (not on the hdd!)
after that, import the factory Traktor tsi file for the denon.
