I was using traktor 3 for a long time but now that i've upgraded to traktor pro i can't find a way to configure my hercules dj console mk2 to work with it :S
I searched in the traktor midi map folder but nothing related to the mk2 and in online support I only found the configuration to traktor 3 :(
Any help? If possible post a direct link to the file.
    Thanks in advance

    Led mapping and modifier problems..help!

I am using modifiers on many buttons on my VCI-300, but I noticed that I cannot filter out the LED's outputs . I mean if I have a button with a modifier assigned fr example to Modifier output value of 1 and want that led to only light up on that modifier f (1), but not on another value, it will not filter it out.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Example

    Modifier 1/ Direct / Output Value 1
then I duplicate it for a (LED )

Output / Value- Midi note-(F2) (LED LIGHT)

    MOD 1 / Value 1

but if I use MOD 1 / Value 2, the led still lights up?
Does not work like buttons and lights are lighting up when not wanted.
Seems nothing is getting filtered out with the midi modifier filters and outputs for LED's..

    any ideas?

Yoiu are definitely going to have to learn to roll your own TSI. First off take a look at the last tutorial that discusses understanding how to find out what kind of controller out puts your midi controller produces.
Next, clean out ALL of your current controls choose one traktor control, X-Fader is good for a knob or slider and a monitor cue works well for a button. choose one of your 1D controls, learn it, then play around with the various traktor settings so you can learn what the verious setting do and how the changes affect the way you control Traktor. Experiment and prototype first then you'll have enough understanding to build your own TSI file to work the way you want it to.

Think i will try and get my money back for Traktor (which will be unlikely now, as i've opened it and installed it on my computer). Jesus what a complete farce, need to be some kind of uber nerd to figure it out.

Would have thought for £120! You'd have put some effort into pre-mapping some of the bigger and more popular mixers.

Will be passing on my thoughts to a couple of friends who were also intrested in purchasing traktor.

In fact, can you advise me of the best way of contacting your complaints department? Contact number or an E-mail address?

MessyKen N.I have provided maps for most of the popular controllers but surely you cant expect N.I. to develop maps for everything as well as the DJ program itself.
Controller and Mixer manufacturers make their units to be used with sofware. Its surely just as much their responsibility to provide mapping/help. Have Pioneer supplied anything?
I use a faderfox controller and they had a midi map out within the same week as Pro was released.

I do find your comment about 'passing on your thought' to be a little distasteful .

Im sure that with enough time and application you could get your DJM rocking with PRO.

All the necessary contact details are available on this website .

I've complained to Pioneer as well.

I'm just annoyed that i've looked forward to Traktor arriving all week, it finally arrived and i can't do anything with it as i've got spend hours figuring out how to map the damn thing

And, no i don't think it is too much to ask. I wouldn't have bought the product had i know i would have to spend hours and hours mapping the mixer. But, thats my fault i suppose, i should have done some research.

Where can i find this tutorial! I've got up this morning with a belief that i can do this. But, it is just not n00b friendly at all.

These codes mean nothing to me. :(

NI site is not the only place to look at for .TSI files.

People should have a look also at their controler's site (especialy for Hercules).

Moreover, when I read some threads, I guess some people here would like NI to provide also their playlists and cuepoints. it takes 1 hour to understand how to tweak midi mapping and do a full personal one so why don't you take the time to look at it a bit?

 I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure it out. Nobody seems to have any answers, other than telling me to figure it out myself!

There's a mention of a tutorial, but i cannot find it.

I've been to Pioneers forum and they have told me to come here for more info

Just think it's garbage. Traktor is the most useless program if you are not using some kind of midi mixer.

MessyKen there is a certain amount of knowledge needed to use anything !

You cant just mess about trying to figure it out.
Im not giving you the RTFM speech but you will have a DJM manual and a PRO manual that need a thorough reading especially if you new to digital DJing.
I must admit i have no experience with the DJM 700 but ive had a look at the Pioneer website and the Specs page just doesnt work and there doesnt seem to be a forum which is a real let down.

Look , you have got the equipment, no point coming on here and blaming NI for not being able to use it. Get positive and work it out cus it will work really well. UK shops are selling the DJM700 bundled with PRO.

What exactly are you trying to do with the mixer. Ive read your posts and you havent actually said "im trying to do blah blah and it doesnt work" you havent said anything other than that you cant work it out. Work what out?
Have you got it set up as a 'normal' mixer yet.
Have you enabled the mixer in the Midi Setup in Preferences so that PRO can receive Midi from your mixer?

I know you will be able to get it sorted and im sure that the problems are basic ones that once overcome you will soon get rolling your own tsi.

You also need to fill out your signature with your setup specs.

The mixer is set-up and working with a pair of CDJ 800s externally - all fine there.

I've enabled the mixer in Pro (preferences)

I've switched the mixer to "midi mode"

All the leads are in the right places.

I've read both the Pioneer manual and pro manual - The pioneer has 3 full a4 pages about mapping. It tells you about each switch name, switch type and "midi message" I.e:

Cross Fader - Cross Fader - VR -MSB (Bn, 44, dd) Comments (0 to 127)

But, i can't see how that marries up with any of the options on pro.

I just really don't know where to begin mapping

    - i've tried assigning the crossfader as a starter by going into Midi mapping >>> Add >>> Audio >>> X-Fader

    - Then i've tried the codes in the drop down box next to the "learn" button. I've tried codes in the "omni" drop down box.

    ---
Again, i think it was Phill who mentioned a thread/tutorial for the basics - i can't find it.

If someone could point me in that direction please?

    Appreciated.

Ok . Ive never set a midi mixer up but hey its midi, i can do that.

Go thru your procedure as you did above but ignore the codes. When you click 'Learn' (it will go Yellow) Pro is asking you which button/knob/fader you wish to control the command with.
As you are assigning the X-Fader you need to move the X-Fader on the DJM after hitting Learn. You will see the code enter itself.

As i say ive not got a midi mixer so im not sure what the Interaction mode is so just change it till you get it right. Try Direct.
Do the same for Type Of Controller.
See if the X-fader is controlled by the DJM.

I tried this earlier, and it didn't work.

So i will assume, for the moment, that there is something wrong with how i have set it up.

No doubt you will be hearing off me again soon enough. lol

    Thanks,

Mate , theres a lot of helpful people on here who are more than ready to get you up and running.

Have you enabled the Mixer in Midi Setup. You need a 'X' next to the mixer name.
With some Midi units you need to have them connected BEFORE starting Traktor or they wont show in Midi Setup.

Messy (proper name for you I guess)...

    What soundcard are you using?

How are you connecting the 700 to your laptop?

Yeah I can help... you are letting the really techky geek stuff freak you out. To start with you don't give a crap about all the mumbo-jumbo stuff like:
Here is the quick 1,2,3 to get started.
Its a question an answer session
1/ What MIDI device are you plugging your DJM700 into?
2/ Are you certain your PC is receiving MIDI data into your PC
3/ We need your PC Setup specs are you MAC or Windows?

get us this data and we'll move on to next steps.

Lol... i think i assumed that he had already made the right connections (partly cus he said he had) also cus he was using the mixer already in the usual manner and that it was simply a prefs problem.
Oh well sometimes im too forgiving.
