    acer computer
    1.8 gh 960 mb ram
    amd sempron
    processor 3000
    window xp
i did put an aditional 26.5 gb of ram

so i just switched from serato cuz i was intrested in checking out the many features including effects that traktor offers.

anyways im having a couple issues.

#1....is there anyway to analyze tracks before hand. i analyzed some of my collection but when i reopend traktor and loaded some of those tracks they got re-analyzed. i want to analyze all my tracks once and be done with it.

#2.... when tracktor analyzes songs it changes the Bpm and it is often wrong can i make traktor not change bpm

#3 i have a bad timecode calibration graphic. how do i get a better signal? it shakes back and forth.

#4 last and most important traktor sometimes dropes the audio out or makes a stuttering weird sound. this happens pretty much non stop.
my computer is not the best so i belive that this part of the problem. is there anyway i can optimize performance? anything i can do to setting w my computer to insure traktor runs smoothly?
Also, will pre analyzing tracks as described in the first question above cut down on the amount of cpu used and make traktor one better?

at this point i just want to run two decks w the timecode vinyle . i dont need to use the effect or anything else that might slow the programe down at this time. i play every weekend so if i could just get traktor to let me mix back and forth with 2 decks that would suffice for now till i get my new laptop in 2 months.

i play friday and could use the help.
    thank you

talk about maxxing out yr RAM!

seriously though here's a few tips:

from the file browser on the left, make sure you right click the files you want and then 'add to collection'. Then, also from the right-click menu, click 'Analyze (Async)'

The tracks will then remain analyzed for you.

re the BPM, Traktor is not 100% perfect at detecting the tempo (will be better with the next update) but you can program a hot key on your keyboard (I use < and > ) to halve or double the tempo on the focused deck.

re 'how do i get a better signal?' - you need to have your carts and needles in top quality condition - also your connection leads. Anything less than perfect with any of these will result in poor quality timecode.

in terms of the audio dropouts you are experiencing, the pre-analysis thing will definitely help. But really, the only thing you can do until you get your new computer is to raise the latency setting in the Audio Soundcard preferences. What setting are you currently using? Odds on that if you raise the value there it will result in better audio performance.

    thanks

1st thing. thank you for the help
2nd im dumb and dont know what i was writing about the RAM. lol

    anyways.
    1. so far i have been working with the itunes list. so ur saying if i add the tracks to my collection then analyze the will stay analyzed? sounds simple enough i will try.

    2. programing a hot cue for the BPM sounds like it might take a while to figure out. lol any other details on the process of actully doing it would help.
also i always set my bpm in itunes so is there any way i can have traktor just read that bpm and keep it. i mean i already have all my tracks bpm in itunes i dont want to have to go through and double check every song in traktor to see if the Bpm is right.

    3. im using th ortofon pro s cartridges and they are pretty new with good needles. all cables are secure and new so i dont know why i would have a bad time code graphic and signal. but i did notice when i set up at the club the signal was much better and the graphic was better. could a bad ground on my turntables be causing this problem?

    4.my audio latency is at 15.5 .

    5. and another werid thing just happen . i started traktor and for the first 10 min the audio cracked alot and sounded terrible then all of a sudden it stopped and it sounded great. any idea on this

    1. You can use the ITunes-library (and therefore all tags including BPM) directly in Traktor.
Just specify the path to the library under "Data Location" in the Preferences menu.

    2. It's more assigning keys to functions than programming them.
    Just go to Preferences->Keyboard Mapping->Add->Track BPM->BPM x2 (or BPM /2).
Then click the Learn button and press the key you want to map to that function.
Click Learn again and you're done.

    3. I don't know too much about DVS, but bad grounding can lead to such behaviour. Why do you suspect it to be bad?

    4. & 5. What's your soundcard?

    im starting to feel dumb

    1. i already set itunes location in the preferance browser but whenever a track gets analyzed it changes the bpm. so it will start out with the right bpm but once i analyze it the bpm changes.

    2. ok will try

    3. i live in old house . only some of the outlets are grounded. im gonna test this . will let u know what i find.

    4. and 5.
sorry forgot to put this on the last post. but im using the audio 8 dj.
    ---
also . when i click on the itunes playlist and i look through it i notice that the BPM for some songs is wrong . it is not what i have listed in my itunes. and this is the list that says un -editable. i mean it should just be reading the info from my itunes . dont understand why they in traktor it says the bpm is one thing and when i open itunes and look at the same track it says something different.

    1. Go to preferences->File Management
Check off "Analyze new tracks when loading into deck"

    4. Did you choose the ASIO thing as Audio Device (don't have an AUDIO2/4/8 here so I don't know whether it installs several audio-devices)

so i dont know why but itunes was the problem. it has reset alot of my bpms with random numbers. really weird. so i have to go back and re-bpm alot of my music.
pretty lame but at least it is not a traktor problem.
after i do this i will do the importing and analyzeing procedures that u have already described . i have a good feeling that this will help.

also under my sound device i have the audio 8 selected . i dont kow what ASIO is.

tomorrow i will do all of this stuff and hopefully have everything adjusted. so i will post again tomm. to let u know if all my problems are solved .
    thanks for all the help

ok. so i have followed all of the tips and this is where i stand.

i switched my setup to a grounded outlet. this did seem to help me get a better timecode signal. it was still a lil crappy but not as bad as before.
now when i set up at the club the timecode signal is great. so i belive it must just be an issue with my house wiring.

i fixed my itunes and analyzed everthing as recomended and this seems to have help a ton with any drop out i had. i maybe had one during a full 4 hour session. this i can live with.

i guess the only problem i am having at this point and it is kinda serious is that when i first start traktor and start playing tracks the audio crackles. it sounds like im playing old, dirty, scratched records. really is noticible and makes the sound quality sound like phooo. then after like 40 minutes it just stops and everything sounds great.
if i could just fix this i would leave u alone. lol :D

Make sure your laptop is running in 'high performance' mode. Turn off your wifi. Make sure you are run the 'Audio8' driver and not the 'Audio8 8in 8out' one.

High performance is one of the power options for your laptop - left click on the battery/plug icon in the right taskbar - when I had some dropouts once it was because I was in power saver and never realized it.

ok well i think i am all out of ideas . im still getting audio dropouts.
so im just gonna use my cd players for the next month till i get my new mac and then i will see how traktor runs on there. if i have problems with my new computer i will probably just switch back to serato.
i love the possibilities of traktor but if i cant get it to work efficiently then it is no good to me ..
    thanks for all the help.
