    Hi,

I'm in the market for a timecode solution and I have questions for the Final Scratch pro users... I've alrelady checked all the threads Stanton vs Serato vs Torq but it seems that people don't really know final scracth and they only answered based on what they perceived as a complicated interface.

At first I will only use Final scratch pro + audio 8 dj to be able to play cd and vinyl on my turnatbles but out of my mac. Kind of Serato but with 3 turntables :)... but:

    - Can I play with 3 cdj? ( the first 2 channels on the Audio seems to be vinyl only so I'm not sure I can plug a cdj in it)
    - When I play with 2 timecode vinyls and 2 timecode cds (won't happen at the same time but it will be configured like this), is it easy to switch on the box to be able to play a regular vinyl or cd? Could this be done live?
    - What about sound quality? As FK mentionned, it's only a 200$ sound card so I'm not expecting a spectacular sound but does it compare with pionner CDJ when playing out on a Urei and is it worst?
    - Is the audio card in the mac will have any use or will it be transparent? (given that I won't use any filter on the software)

    Thanks

    there is no such software.
there is (was?) a final scratch software.
we are here in the NI forum, so you'll find traktor (scratch) pro users here.

    yes

regarding vinyl, all you need is to switch from line to phono on your MIXER.
regarding cd's you need 2 line inputs for one channel and switch between these. on the mixer.

i never used a cdj or urei in my life, so i dont know. but the audio 8 sounds better than the ssl box.

you can not use the internal soundcard for scratch control.
however, you can use the internal soundcard to prepare your tracks (in the train etc.).

    Thanks[/QUOTE]

Thanks for your answer. Sorry I was meaning Traktor Scratch Pro + audio 8

if I get you well, regarding switching from timecode to no timecode it means that I need to have like 8 inputs on my mixer to be able to choose between timecode vinyl + timecode cd or classic cd and classic vinyl? I thought it was like torq, you just have to switch something on the box and you can play the regular medium... Am I right?

    Thanks

on probably every mixer i ever seen has a phono/line switch per channel and that's the very easiest way to switch between normal and timecode vinyl.

whether you use the multicore cables or not - you always would have to connect all inputs on the mixer (you obviously need the input from the turntables!)

line/line channels are not on every mixer - in this case you can use the audio through feature of traktor. click on the deck letter and select audio through. you can assign a hotkey for that.

    this works also for vinyl.
