    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get a handle on TSP, and the equipment I'll be needing to upgrade from Traktor Pro. I had purchased the XoneDX a while back, thinking it would be everything I needed, but I've recently had a change of heart and started thinking about moving to vinyl, or at least DVS. The DX is a purely digital midi controller with a soundcard integrated, but since I've already got it, I'm attempting to integrate it somehow to bring down the total net cost of upgrading to TSP.

Is it possible to purchase the audio 8, and then run that into the DX and have it act as a midi mixer, even though it has no analogue function?

    Thanks!

I looked into this very option and was told it would not be poss, however I wasn't convinced. You require connections to phono and line on a mixer with the normal Traktor multi core cables, this gives you timecode and normal vinyl support through the soundcard interface, however you can do a single connection to line if you only require timecode support.

    Good luck!

Thanks James. Unfortunately, I did a little more research after work, and turned up this article at djtechtools.

Basically, it's a resounding no; it'll work, but no timecode control.

Oh well...guess it's time to run some credit card action.

Saying that though, the Kontrol S4 will accept timecode without the Audio 4/6/8/10 interface from April :

So I guess it may be possible that given A&H can support Traktor Scratch (Xone 3D/4D) it may have that same compatible circuitry in the DX via a firmware update in the future.....

The same may also apply to the Denon DN-MC6000 as some of it's fellow Denon brothers do support TSP as well.

    Good luck mate!

Actually, another thought......have you tried to configure TSP with the Xone DX set as the audio device (i.e. no Audio 8 etc required at all) and just plug in the turntables and play time code vinyl through it?

This is how the Kontrol S4 will work from April.

The reason I say this is although the DX is not TSP certified, neither is the Denon X-1700 mixer (the X-1600 is though) and that works in the same manner as I mentioned above without any issue at all.

    Maybe worth a try......
