    Hi,

play with Traktor Scratch and my old setup is an old Sony laptop with an Audio 8 on Windows 10.

I bought an used Lenovo Thinkpad T450 and since some months it is impossible for me to use the T450 and i had different problems with this.

My question is, if someone has experience with an T450 and if someone play with an T450..?

    The T450 has this features:
    - Intel Core i5-5300U Processor(Core i5-5300U)
    - 8GB RAM
    - 256 SSD HD
    - Intel HD Graphics 5500
    - USB 3 Ports

If play Traktor on the T450 sometimes after some minutes or even after 1 hour i have some crackling. But i had also the behavior that Traktor was frozen.

    I tried a lot of optimizations (I don't think I remember everything ;-) ) :
    - tried with Windows 10 + Windows 8
    - tried Traktor 2 + Traktor 3
    - tried with Audio 8 + Traktor Audio 6
    - turned off Defender and some Windows Software ( i use it with an own partition without internet)
    - turned off internal soundcard, wifi adapter
    - edit power management
    - updated bios
    - made tests for the system, cpu, hdd...
    - with LatacyMon on Win 10 i have the Wdf01000.sys problem, but is better after some edits

What could be a next try?
I would like to if something is wrong especially with my one and think about to buy another 450 - or maybe an 450 is not good to use with Trakror Scratch...

Hi Dpir. (very sorry for my english)

i got similar setup (t530) and i experienced the same ridiculous events (couple of hours everything nice and OK, suddenly fckdp.... According to my knowledge (browsing dozens of forums, NI, Lenovo, ...) the problem is/was "Lenovo power manager". This tool is automaticaly installed with Windows and i noticed, that in the older versions of Windows 10, software called "Lenovo PM" was 32bit, instead 64bit (maybe this was the cause..., who knows...).

Best solution (according to my latest experiencies): clean install of windows 10, version 1909, latest build... (you can get it from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 (create installation media, ...). It is really possible, that with latest version, this issue is solved. Lenovo power manager is finally 64b version in my system. (again, i am not 100% sure, this was the cause, but it is very probable). * edit: maybe i remember it wrong and was actually 64b, i dont remember...

In older windows 10 (i strongly don't recomend this): i disabled all "power & PM lenovo" related services - uninstalled Lenovo Power manager, and even removed manually all remants of it inside Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\ - be carefull... And also i tried to track every single stupid process or service (lenovo/windows/avast/whateva) and put em down - it was around 15 services, after which some things were did not 100% functional :D but finally i got rid of that issue - and was affraid to upgrade to latest version of win :) )

Just for information - which version of windows 10 you use now? ( [win]+[r] >>> [enter] >>> "winver" [enter] ). My is : "1909, build 18363.535" and no above mentioned issues...

Good luck (i ve been there too :) )

    Hello dpir,

I had a T470, also with 2-core i5-CPU, 8 GB RAM and internal GPU (HD6200, if I remember correctly). I also observed occassional high loadings and crackles irregular on a temporal base (with WLAN deactivated, max power scheme etc.). What helped me out significantly was to put an additional 8 GB RAM into the computer, which was identical to the present one (capacity, clockings, maybe vendor in the best case). This allows dual channel service of the GPU. Et voila, spikes and dropouts were gone. However, I must say that I use the S8 controller, which may put additional stress to the internal GPU, since the two S8 displays are rendered by the computer and not by the device.

    Good luck.

    Hi Zausel. I got similar setup, t530 (2 core i7, gpu on cpu, 8g ram) + s8.

Oldtimes: Before i upgraded to t530 i have got old acer, core2duo, 2.6 ghz, 4gb ram, 128gb ssd. And this old man managed to run TP2 with S8 connected without any sound issues (only problems were stuttering of sreens and slow loading in the decks and waveforms on s8 screens were slow loading also. Latency issues were managable below 20ms. But never heave sound distortion here mentioned.

T530: Before i done steps mentioned in my previous post, i regulary experienced that tp2 could have been playin uninterrupted without distortion about 30-180 minutes (no distortion at all, everything smooth, even with wifi and chrome running). But then when distortion sudenly appeared, it wont gone until i restart traktor. It was not many little episodes during "set", but it was one fatal event :) huge pain in ass, i can tell :D so, my theory is, that hidden malfunctioned power mamagment overided user configuration... (ofcourse, maybe this was linked only to specific hardware in my t530 and ram issues on other devices are really possible)

    Thanks for your answer!
I made an update to version 1909, but my problem isn't solved. I will try it with an new 1909 installation, maybe it will be better.
The tests with 1909 and Traktor Audio 6:
    - with Traktor 3 directly i hade some buffer underruns
    - Traktor 2 works very well for some time without any buffer underrun, but after 20 minutes Traktor frozrn, the tracks are stopped and i can't start again or load a new track, other thnks like scrolling through the tracklist is possible.
On LatencyMon i had an execution time from 50ms from wdf01000.sys :-(

Oh i am sorry for that. If problem persist even after clean install, it must be something else - maybe the "ram thing" as mentioned Zausell. But there is one thing you can try: disable acpi/battery stuff in device manager, for example: https://windowsfish.com/wp-content/...t-controlbattry-icon-missing-in-wndows-10.png .

(btw, i assume that your power management setting is set to maximum values even in that "tree-view" extended configuration. Cpu state 100%, usb never turn off, etc...)

    Good luck
