dont worry i know you're only joking with an old cliche, but the lines between live act/dj/producer are getting narrower by the second.

Could Someone Please Answer My Simple Questions..

Hi all,
I am seeking some very simple answers concerning stepping into the Digital Vinyl train. Would be grateful for anyone to help me.
I am an analogue vinyl DJ... not playing out anymore, just a few house parties sometimes. I play and collected House and Electronica on vinyl since the early 90's.
Anyway, I am considering entering the digital arena and am collecting info on Digital Vinyl Systems like Traktor.
I just want to be sure I am getting this right.:
When playing a mp3 track from my computer but controlling it with the control vinyl- am I still able to use my beloved Technics 1210's to do this? Or do I need to use a different / digital/ usb tt?
And what of the cartridge and stylus? The same as what I use for normal records or ...different?
And when it comes to compatible mixes ......do I NEED a Serato inc mixer , or do some other mixers work fine, eg Pioneer, Rane A&H, Ecler and support Traktor?
I really just want to keep using regular turntables, mixing beats and getting into it so I hope that is the answer!

Best to start a new thread for your questions, but you'll be glad to hear that you can use your 1200's, current mixer, carts and styli. You'll just need Traktor Scratch Pro, Audio 8 or 4 DJ Soundcard, control vinyl and you'l be ready to enter the digital realm.

How on earth did you manage to run TSP of a 9" lightweight PC?
I thought that the application didn't even start with less than a core 2 duo / dual core / athlon x2 CPU?

It's supposed to be another wake-up call for NI to work on NS7 support.

My Traktor setup is VCI-300 as main-controller and VCI-100 for FX and Deck C,D

NS7, MPC1000 and OmniControl are for showcases.

 

Well this my set-up.

I had the SL-DZ1200's before I had my SL1200MKII's.
