Old set up. Everything is now boxed away while I work on my house. An EQ version of the pictured mixer is on its way to me now & the PMC-05 has since been fitted with an Innofader. I started moving away from Traktor after using it for years, but began using it a little more with the recent acquisition of a remix controller.

    AWESOOOOOME!!!!!
That little screen is cute, and that touchpad even more :D
the next step would be getting something like an APC UPS.
but it looks really portable. what kind of lenovo system did you use? something like an Intel NUC?

but your PC won't freeze and f*** things up :D even some micro-interruptions make a stationary PC vulnerable. This is a reason why every artist who uses a performing system (VJs with their 3D-Live-Setup) have also a UPS for their "mainframe". Laptop user don't even think about such problems, they never have such problems :D
and since the S8 requires an AC adapter with a lot of power (2,6A@15V is a lot), and is not able to play uninterrupted if the lights go out, all of us S8 user should get us at least some kind of backup.
The S4 had some kind of "power-loss" mode, it kept playing uninterrupted even if your AC adaptor was defective or mistakenly plugged out.

Allright, I'm gooing tooooooo technicly in this thread :D

turntables are rubbish, a few months on a controller, picking up a 12" record makes you laugh, and thinking about mixing those massive things when you were 15 years old

Wow! You're crazy! have you ever DJ'ed with turntables? I have been on a controller since 2007 and I am getting my turntables tuned up so I can start taking them out to events (I am a mobile DJ)

had me a numark £100 battle dj turntable pack with scratch mixer having to turn down channel volume when cue was enabled, they were crap

stanton str8-150s kept up with tekstep drum & bass, but still crap
    1210s have always been crap

you just stand there for a few minutes bored, waiting to just blend a tune into the next

So last weekend one of my mates and I decided to team up for a function gig, and make it so that we both were live and our MacBooks were BPM sync'd ... We were certainly both live but getting a network midi sync was another matter all together!

Sorry for the average picture, but from top to bottom (so left to right of console):
    F1, S4mk2, F1 (connected to Pete's MBA 13") -- L/R TS leads from Master to RCA Ch1 on DJM
CDJ2000, DJM850, D2, X1mk2 (connected to my MBA 11") -- Master XLR to in-house PA, Booth to pair of RCF ART310A

I was using the CDJ2000 in HID for control of deck A into DJM Ch2, this was also ready with a USB stick should anything go horribly wrong! The D2 was controlling deck B into DJM Ch3, and as it was my first night using the D2, I also had one of my trusty X1's plugged in for support of deck B and control of deck D.

Both MBA connected via Network Midi, Gigabit Thunderbolt adapters - the BPM would waver quite a bit I found. Pete was master, and so every time he shifted the BPM up or down I'd double tap sync to get close of the BPM then adjust as required. The midi offset was set around 6 but we still weren't that happy with it and so mixed by ear. It would be great if NI would come up with a better way to push the BPM data out to other programs and computers, or just implement MTC.

Anyhow, our first night working in sync and mashing tracks and remix decks was great fun and something that we'll hopefully get to do more of. And the D2 is something that I'll need to spend more time with :)
