Traktor software license granted while purchasing the S4 Mk3

    Hi guys,

I tried to raise a request at the support service, but it looked strange. I received a letter confirming that I had registered for the ticket. The same time I was asked to install some software on my computer that will help the support to figure out what is going on on my computer. This is very strange given the nature of my request.

Unfortunately, I don't see any other way to get clarity on my issue and I decided to appeal to the respected public, the residents of this forum.

I bought the S4 mk3 Dj controller at WestEndDJ couple month ago. There were no licence coupon or other similar notice had been included in a box. I did not activate the device and hence haven't got my Traktor Pro 3 licence, because I already owned one which was separately purchased. That means I own two licences at the same time. Isn't that?

Recently, I've decided to sell my S4 mk3. I would like to mention it in an advertisement that I sell my S4 mk3 with a licence. I wonder how I would be able to hand over Traktor Pro 3 licence to a further owner with the s4 mk3 in this case? I heard something about licence transfer ... But how to get my second license which is granted while purchasing the S4 Mk3?

And where I can find the Traktor software licence which should be provided with my s4 mk3?

Thanks for any help or advice in this regard

In the User Agreement terms I believe there is one which specifies that hardware can’t be sold without software. Hence you have right to ask for the Software to WestEndDJ. If they can’t provide you the license, you should open a ticket (as you already have) and I think that providing the hardware serial number you’ll be transferred (given) the software serial number after they do some “paperwork” (I do not know how this process works).
    Hope this info helps!

You have to add the Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 hardware serial number in Native Access (NA) to see if the hardware has already been registered. You have to trash it out with WestEndDJ if NA reports that that hardware has already been registered.

On the other hand, on a successful registration, another Traktor Pro 3 with a new serial number will appear in your NI User Account under My products and serials page on NI web site even though you will only see one entry in NA. It is your choice if you want to register this new Traktor Pro 3 serial number in your NI User Account (see below).

When you sell your S4 Mk3 and initiated the License Transfer, the buyer will get the hardware serial number transferred to his NI User Account the moment he enters the Transfer ID. Nowadays, the seller gets to keep the bundled software even though the hardware has been sold and transferred, and the buyer will get a fresh set of serial numbers of the bundled software to be registered under his user account.

Do note that there is a 60-day period after a hardware serial number has been registered where you cannot do a License Transfer until the period is over. This is just a security precaution. However, you can open a relevant support ticket with NI for assistance if you need to do a Licence Transfer within this 60-day period.

For all current hardware products with bundled software, but I am unsure about legacy products though.

Thanks for your answer, Aleix, that info makes sense.

I haven't known that software bundle is inalienable (you cannot keep a software licence with you while selling hardware in this case ).

    Appreciate your help, Victor

It seems I was able to successfully register my S4 Mk3 in my Native Instruments account.

However, I still do not see two serial numbers on Traktor 3, so far I have only observed one.

As far I understand the new owner will simply register the controller in his account and automatically get a new license, even if I do not initiate the licence transfer action.

I was thinking that probably it could be a great selling point to mention the Traktor Pro 3 licence transfer to a new owner while publishing an advertisement for selling used S4MK3

If you don't see a second license, I suspect there should have been a software license card in the retail box.

    I would:
    1. Open a support ticket, confirming that your new retail box should have included a Trackor Pro 3 licence card in it.
    2. If point 1 is true, contact WestEnd DJ and tell them it was missing.

I just check my user account and notice that the bundled Traktor Pro 3 with my Traktor Kontrol S3 did not appear under My products and serial page, but in my Native Access. Also, Traktor DJ 2 for Traktor Kontrol S3 appeared which is part of the software bundle for Traktor Kontrol S3 anyway. So it seems you won't get a bundled Traktor Pro 3 serial number unless it's a separate purchase.
