The D2 was my natural update the my X1 controllers. The D2 was amazing, and mourned daily.

I am about to buy a replacement X1, incase my battered X1 dies.

Idea for MK3? An OLED/LCD display showing the track information . Then I can look at my Macbook screen less!

The X1 is still available on the Traktor web site.

From Mick @ NI words maybe a Z1mk2 with the center side of new S2/4 will came before any X1mk3... (since Z4 was S8 but dj world didn't get the point of keep using turntables as jogs... and later phase and twelve mk2 came to prove that path as valid... and now with spleeterstems all these "failed" stem line are still forward thinking but hardly Traktor could handle implementing that... or not and it's coming?
But some controllers were buried in the process and now the market isn't clear (hello ARMacs, bye bye x86...)

Guys... Did you noticed that Traktor was planning shift into TDJ2 (check link below) but layoff+covid hit NI? They recover the M+ from the trashbin after release the S4/2/3...

So it seems hard times to trace a straight forwared roadmap with money constraints, covid hitting the dj world as we known it so betting towards bedroom/twitch djs can be the best option?
Traktor had rumours about sales over it but... maybe after Apple releases "whatever they are hiding" can TDJ2 become the winning horse and implement all missing features in revamped form?

My bet is "whatever released for Traktor with NI brand on it will be class compliant" (and build by third party since the hardware division was "mostly" (maybe not entirely) laid off. Expect anything like that in 2 years or less if NI makes a deal with something in the works over the last 2 years to just put the NI words on it and make it work properly with all this software (first TP3 like Twelve mk2 and the Pio V10; later with TDJ2 with some iAPs since user base talk loud about subscription...)

edit: I forgot to put the "link below" from my comment.

I have absolutely no idea what TDJ2 is. Even Google did not help bar sending me to links on NI forums talking about TDJ2 but never erxplaining it.

Fast search in the "new support" (these are so split than even we don't see the moderators from there here... ( Las and Dominik)

    https://support.native-instruments..../posts/360008589837-Kontrol-s8-Support-en-us-

    https://support.native-instruments....trol-Z2-In-Traktor-DJ-2-iPadOs-version-en-us-

    The main support page
    https://support.native-instruments....opics/360000138078-Traktor-DJ-2-Feedback-Area

So we have still doubts? TP3 seems getting step by step onto "phasing out" and all the dedicated hardware not supported by TDJ2 will be discontinued if Apple doesn't open their mfI policy to make possible install third party drivers (HID) and so (which NI is expecting but my gut says Apple will do the opposite or make hardware brands to install a dedicated Apple silicon chip like the T1 inside their hardware to keep security high).

About the fx section and X1 mk3... well maybe some new hardware will come from third party as I said but expect more in the line of S4/3/2 (which have the colour fx implemented) than any in the line of the old hardware. That route dead with the S5/D2/stems funeral and if NI decides to revive it will be on TDJ2 since TP3 is dying (and it must as is) so it's clear into my eyes new hardware is not going to happen and support for old hardware hard if these aren't class compliant. That's why S2/4 mk2 get support but mk1 or the others never.

Extra ball: You can get any class compliant controller work with DjPlayer just right now with 4 decks, stems and DVS on iPad and finally you can get S2mk3 working with something more than just TDJ2 too. It's something! (put a meme picture)

Offtopic end. If NI will more clear about all this mess maybe the forum will have less questions about it but also less users since it seems a bit "deliberated" missing this kind of info or, if it has changed since Pedram stated it, almost update us.

    I don't understand this sentence.

    Did you mean:
    - TP3 is be phased out. ( Phased out being a phrase to mean discontinued)
    - TDJ2 will be discontinued.
    - Hardware that was not supported by TDJ2 will be discontinued.

    ( Perhaps I should not have upgraded to TP3 :) )

    1 and 3.

Check the link I posted about 1.
3 is a consequence of how Apple manages usb devices (class compliant vs made for iPad aka mfi)

TDJ2 is the future but until TP3 phase out it will be the "flagship". If it covers your needs it's ok but expecting new hardware after S3 is being a bit optimistic due the lay off.

    https://djtechtools.com/2019/09/03/shakeups-layoffs-whats-happening-at-native-instruments/

    https://cdm.link/2019/09/native-instruments-responds-layoffs/

The second link confirms about firing part of the Traktor hardware teams. So there are dots, you can draw a line between them...
