I finally gave up and went to Ableton. Works exactly like you would expect it to.

I was in a similar situation to you. I am a committed Logic X and don’t have time to wait around while NI mess with this. I returned it and after looking at the Arturia Keylab mk2 went with the Akai mpk249 with controls mapped to komplete kontrol plugin. Works fine.

Jeremy @ NI this post is almost a year old. Hard to believe an entire software development team is working hard on it. Seriously though, makes me start wondering what is going on.

    Hello Elliott,
Yes, we know this issue has been going on for a while, if you check the whole thread you will see there were previous attempts to fix it, that were not successful for all users, plus other issues that came in the way. I'm not finding excuses, just explaining. And yes, our developers are working on it, if you want to see for yourself, please send me your email address by direct message and we'll add you to the current beta testing group.

I just got a brand new mac. Reinstalled from scratch and I still have the same transport button issues. The transport buttons work when I keep the NI Keyboard and MK3 on and then restart the computer. Need this fixed ASAP. I am surprised they are not able to recreate this in their labs.

I appreciate the explanation and promptness. I don't want to sound negative, but there's just a few things holding me back on the software side from my ever elusive perfect setup, and I really want to see these integrations work.
I would be interested in beta group indeed, will message. Thanks

Search for NTKDaemon process on this thread, you can restart that instead of entire computer when issue arises to help in the interim

Just for clarification the process is NTKDaemon. searching NKTxxx you might get 0 result

Jeremy, thanks to you and the team. Waiting patiently and I’m okay with the occasional restarts for now.

Unfortunately, this issue has returned again. Everything is updated and the Mac OS is Big Sur ... Issue : As soon as you quit LPX and you restart it, the transport buttons do not work anymore. The only one solution is to restart the iMac ! Please, has someone found out the solution ? Regards,

Sounds like it is related to the MK2. The NTK Daemon crashes. From other info, looks like this happens with Mojave, Catalina, the new OS, and multiple versions of Logic.

I’m think it’s hardware agnostic and just Mac-related. I have an A25 and have the issue. On Catalina.

That's rough. And this issue has persisted for over a year almost. Perhaps doing large refactor of code, or just waiting for Apples M2 chip and structuring based on that

Thanks Roland! Your solution of right clicking the Logic app and then left clicking 'get info' and selecting 'open with Rosetta' got the transport controls on my S61 MK2 working with Logic 10.6 on my 2020 Mac Mini M1. I'll keep this tip in my back pocket for other apps too. NI should list this at the top of their compatibility page(s).

New owner of a S88 mk2 using Logic. Just confirming the same issues running Logic 10.6.1 and Catalina on a new iMac. I tried force quitting the ntkdaemon and that seemed to have worked temporarily. When relaunching logic and opening the same test project, the transport is dead again. I have to once again open Activity Monitor and do a force quit of ntk. Is there anyway to have it so that this doesn't launch in the first place?

I just installed the latest updates: Komplete Kontrol 2.6.0 and Maschine 2.13.0. None of these have actually fixed the issues with the transport button fully. I am disappointed.

dbw1 the daemon is NI's middleware. Offering a ton of functionality and more than basic USB connectivity I suspect, so goes along with the product. Con is vs. a pure USB controller that just works through any OS updates and software changes. The Mackie MCU pro I have has worked pretty flawlessly since 2012 with no updates or anything and I only recently can say this is definitely attributed to no dependency software

I just bought my S61 last night and the transport, mix, mute, and solo buttons stopped working in the last hour. Then I found this thread. I am going to be returning it and trying an Arturia, I guess. Such a shame! I loved auditioning all the sounds on this keyboard. But transport is very important... Also, this bug has been around for ONE YEAR!!! That's just... embarrassing. But don't worry, guys, as soon as I return mine and get something else, it will start working for you! That's my luck ;)

iMac Pro, 10 core, 64 gigs RAM, OS 10.15.7 Catalina, Logic Pro 10.6.1, UAD Apollo Twin Mk II, UAD Octo Satellite w/ 77 plugins, Kontakt 6.5.2. w/ all sounds on external thunderbolt 3 SSD. Komplete Kontrol 2.6.0, Komplete S61 MkII keyboard

Speaking of other keyboards, what is the best alternative for 61 keys? Arturia seems like the only decent alternative.
