Triggering Note On/Off Loops from DAW via MIDI

If I have an audio loop in Kontakt - I can trigger the loop via my midi controller or a midi on note in the sequencer.

So, I guess based on settings in the Group/Mapping/Wave editor.. it cycles through the entire loop.

I'm just trying to trigger a sample/loop in Kontakt that lasts only the duration of the midi note itself. So if I have a four bar loop, and my midi note is two bars.. the loop plays back two bars and then stops. If I'm in cycle mode on my DAW, obviously it starts playback each new cycle.

For the life of me, I can't find how this is setup.

* Side note: If I press a key on my controller the loop begins playback - then if I press a key again - it'll stop. That's kind of what I'm looking for. Same thing with a midi part in the sequencer, if I draw out a note just shy of two bars - then put a say short 1/32 hit it'll stop. I'm just trying to make this process automatic instead of manual.

Would really appreciate any guidance, feel like I'm missing the obvious here.

Can you try using the factory script called MIDI latch? That will do what you are mentioning in your side note.

Midi Latch is interesting, I'll have to look into it more to 'get it' but you did lead me in the right direction. I think I've found the solution in Instrument/Scripts > Preset > Utilities > Limit Key Range

MIDI Latch script has its own range limiting controls, so it can only work on one part of the keyboard...
