I wanted to check the Stanton out today in a shop but there wasnt any CD with some default tsi and salesman said I cant install daRouter since the activation would be reguired. So I wasnt able to really try much. Want to go there again tomorrow try it properly, any suggestions, tips, tsi source. Looks like nobody there have much clue, they dont have any demo installed. I will have to do it on my notebook and cant count on any assistance from the shop.
I would love to hear from people who used SCS for some time, if there are any issues, specially on hardware side?
I use hercules Steel which isnt bad, I can do everything without touching notebook keyboard and mouse but Steel (and any other controller of the jog wheel type) are too "loose" unprecise for my feel, for scratching. I hope use daScxratch for that or eif it work good, replace Steel with 2 SCSs

    I'm running 2 x scs.3d and 1 x scs.3m (also controlling 2 x Denon DNS3500 on timecode) all through Scratch pro internal mixer...

Whilst I'll no doubt use the DNS for scratching, you can get some good stuff out of the scs, especially as it comes with tsi to allow you to loop, trigger, scroll through songs, eq, fx, etc.

the shop sounds like they suck, if they selling the unit they should have it setup with darouter, etc. so i feel your pain there.

Basically, i like the scs, its a 10th of the size of a cdj, scratchable, good preset controls.

i just mapped up my scs.3m to control 4 decks tonight and i've never done that before so it's testiment to stanton and traktor making sh*t easy.

BTW, activation isn't required for darouter, so the salesman is talking rubbish, for that reason alone they don't deserve your dough. try www.westenddj.co.uk they do good prices and are good aftersales too...

    good luck

I have two SCS 3ds and I am currently torn between getting a Steel (I used to have a RMX) or a 3m to go in between them. I am leaning toward the Steel because I miss the ease with which I could map my RMX and I want to regain actual sliders and pots for CF/EQ/volume.

I've attached a TSI that allows you to control four decks in Traktor with two 3ds.

Thanks, interesting info. I was thinking about getting 2 SCS, what would the mixer unit add ? I mean, real life, your experience, not what Stanton might advertise. Are the units flexible enough to allow customised layout allowing minimum switching ?
I like flexible midi controllers to some extent but only in studio, when I perform as musician I use more controllers assigned to specific stuff to avoid confusion on stage - oh, f... wrong bank! situations. If I get the 3m will all 3 units be powered from one USB? I understood 3m can power the SCSs
I might be too kind not exploiting 33 days refund option, just taking SCS home and return if I dont like it.

I have 2 .3Ds and the .3M and I love it. I created a Template to do 4 decks and it works very well. You have a great deal of control since you can customize the .TSI do whatever you really want. My customizations for example on the 3Ds use the jog wheels for beat matching and Seeking and Grid setting. The bulk of the rework went into getting the traditional 2 SCS.3D template to control all four decks. It turned out to be a simple change but the TSI is very very large and somewhat complex. I have around 1200 entries in the full TSI, though I do need to do a bunch of rework on the browser functions. I run a cut down version of the preset for live play and I'm adding my Korg Nano controller to controller two of the FX for live play.

The only other thing I can say if the the sliders could all benefit from relative mode instead of absolute. For me, I'm not a huge fan of the analog mode the volume sliders work in and the obvious occasional jumps due to a bad finger touch down. I'm working on building a custom template that converts all the analog sliders to Relative mode but I will be a while before its ready, there are many other things higher priority in my day ;)

Oh BTW Jay.Dub, The Level meters on the .3m and on .3D do work as advertised!

Well, for me, the 3m would provide:

    - Play list control (the current Stanton-provided tsi does not provide this)
    - Crossfader
    - Ability to offload FX and EQ functions from the 3ds, allowing those modes to be used for something else.

Also, the 3m does not require DaRouter like the 3ds do.
    ---
Precisely why I am considering the Steel (plus the fact that I just like the design and feel of it and the RMX).

Thanks for that link, interesting, the basic price is not much less but they have free Uberstand to go with, which is 80 Euro in Germany.
You were right the salesman here is an idiot, I downloaded, installed daRouter without any problems so will go today well prepared to test the box. The main thing is how it feels, but the bottom line is at least it should work better then mechanical jog wheels After reading all the posts it seems to me it is only question to get one or 2 SCS and use along with Steel or Faderfox, or go for whole 3pcs set.

No luck . daRouter worked, tried to match preset and tsi but none of possible pairing worked. Mostly Traktor refused loading any downloaded tsi. I am on 1.02 which is the best working TP version for me. Could that be the problem? any tsi, daRouter preset that would let me try daScratch on 1.02?

I would say, yes, that is a problem! You need to be running TP 1.1.2 for the SCS3d & SCS3m to work properly

Hmmm I did not see any problems between the two versions but Crucial is right hough there are some valuable performance improvements in 1.1.2 that will help

On the issue of refusing to load is it that TSI won't load at all (i.e. you get an error saying invalid format or something like that) or does it do nothing once it does load?

I get the blinking red stripe and something about version.
I am not keen on upgrading since the 1.2 is so close and 1.0.2 works perfectly.
Anyway I decided to take one home because testing at the store makes no sense since no one has any clue about anything. So will get it on Tuesday
If it is must to run1.1.2 to use daScratch so be it so, will upgrade on one of my laptops and see how it goes.

Thanks everybody for help. It was about TP version.I took daScratch home finally and it worked. However it is not to my liking. Just like Lemur, not for me, I want something more physical, already using software is virtual enough. I am posting just to remind someone who like me wants to check Stanton out- it is personal, must try it yourself, ideally home with plenty of time.
I will get Faderfox DJ2 instead, since I already have LV2 and LX2, they feel right, last forever and designed with use of brains.

I think he 3Ds and 3M are definitely a "physical" device, and I always get a good laugh from you can't scratch with it comments.

How much more do I have to do?

    Yo PhilL,
have you tried putting those inputs on soft-takeover?
    Might help with the accidentals?

Must say the scratch part did not disappoint at all, that is what i want for scratching not pots with attached plates. Hope some company will come with such solution while using old skool pots and faders for what they do better (I could get EQ or similar function back to 0 only 1 out of 10 tries).
Great Stanton tried and made that unit, others will follow and make it probably better.Hybrid version with each technology doing its best is the winner.
I am totally sold to the touchpad as the best solution for scratching, that is why will go Faderfox way-for everything else- and will try to convince some of the companies I am hooked up with to pickup the idea and meanwhile look for someone to made me a prototype "scratch pad". I wouldnt be surprised if some companies including NI already work on that.
