I've been waiting for traktor pro to switch to 4 deck mixing (without cdj's/turntables).

But now it seems to me that for this purpose TSPRO is actually a BIG step back form T3, as it only has 2 fx slots which makes it impossible to use (different) fx on 4 decks individually as it was possible in T3.

If you just look at hawtins vids how he uses 4 beatrepeats on his 4 channels, or how Chris liebing uses his delays in the T3 tutorial DVD it seems this won't be possible in TSPRO with just 2 fx slots.

Also, the mapping of a Xone 1D for instance will be less intuitive as you probably wont map each of the 4 channels to its own fader plus 3 rotary knobs on the xone.

is this the case of am I missing something? :S :S

Why you say this? If you like you can apply 'til six different effects to each decks.... Do you can do it in Traktor 3?

With midi modifiers you have an easier system and a mappings flexibility impossible to have in Traktor3.

what I mean is, that you can't use seperate effects on 4 different channels at the same time... check the hawtin video where he uses 4 beatmashers at the same time for the 4 channels, all with DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT settings (While always having the same set of faders controlling the fx for each deck).

I dont want to use 6 effects on on channel, I want to use 4 different fx on 4 seperate channels. which is a whole different story

I 100% agree with this. I'm used to having an effect for each channel as well.. it seems a bit of a step back this way.. the effects are way cooler and more but i would like to have the option of having one for each channel.

    Any official response?

So is there an official response yet?

It seems like this is quite a difference.

And untill Richie shows me otherwise, I want to know the official stance on this :)

I agreed that lots of stuff was possible in T3 not possible in TPRO and hopefully NI will dress this issue on some updates. but meanwhile, try to think positively.
you don't do something because hawtins or christ liebing did it, you do something because you are creative about what is on your hand.

While I see the difference... how is this a "huge" step back?

You REALLY effect 4 decks playing at once? * ouch my ears *

I was of the opinion that this was not a step in the right direction until I stopped and analyzed how I actually use FX and realized that while I played on 4 decks I almost never used 4 different FX and when I did I used 2 FX or more with the same settings.

After using the FX for many weeks now, I can say I do prefer the new model. Chaining FX and using them on two or 3 decks together gives a cleaner sound and I think a better mix. Its one of thos situations where, "Just coz ya can doesn't mean ya should".

I never thought of this before - I only use 2 decks.. But this does suck. More and more I'm getting the feeling that what I really want out of TRAKTOR is a bastard version with the features of T3 and seamless hotcue jumping of TP.

O'well, perhaps the updates will fix this.. in a few years ;p

BUT I ask the question(s) again that so far NO ONE that wants independent channel FX seems to have answered. Can you and do you use 4 FX at once? If you do, how often?
FX are one of those things that generally works best with subtle use. Chris Liebing is the case that runs counter to to the guidance, I've heard his sets but his setups involves feeding out of Traktor into Ableton and then doing live FX on the whole signal path essentially that is turning on FX on all channels at once and using a single set of parms.

Honestly I can say I was not in favor of the TPro design UNTIL I got to try out and really use the new design. I'm now a huge fan of the new FX model, its more usable, friendly and veratile than the T3 FX. The current model has some things that need to be improved for sure, but if you have not yet tried to push the boundaries on the Pro FX then you should, you'll find the new FX much more accomodating that it might seem on the surface. Look closely at how you use FX today, Almost invariably you use FX on at most 2 decks and given that in simple mode you can have up to 6 FX chained at ONE time per DECK you've got a lot of FX power there. One thing I would love to see though is per deck dry wet control instead of a single master dry wet.

I like the new model too. However I still prefer sends in stead of on/off buttons for routing my signal through the FX units. Right now you are forced to always have the same amount of a particular effect on all decks. That sucks.

PhilL: I agree with you that the new fx conept is way better then in t3. But yes, I really want to use more then two effect racks and as great as the chained racks are, the don't solve every problem. Sometimes I need advanced effects, the beatmasher is one example.

I mix my sets with self produced parts (pads, beats and so on) and FX on them really make sens.

just read the link I have posted. If you can't understand the need (from some people) for more then 2 racks after that, I would be glad to provide you with a better example.

    Lacking Fx Options

I dont think the FX question in this post (and the answers that resulted) make a good argument on TP's new limited FX options.

Hell I can come up with 4 examples right off the bat. while only using 2 decks that show TP has lost FX functionality with the new panel...

The chained FX (for the most part) sound like some cheezy crap found on lesser DJ softwares out there (Virtual DJ comes to mind). And they have no tweak-ability.

Advanced FX's sound superb and are VERY tweakable,, however there's only two of them which makes them completely limited.

I dont think people's request of seperate 4 deck FX option means they intend on using 4 FX's on 4 decks simultaneously. (DUH)

Having two more FX channels (say 3 & 4) would enable anyone to use the advanced FX in any configuration, particularly while using only 2 decks...

Come on now this isnt rocket science....there is no argument that will erase the obvious here (even if Phil is the defender)

TP FX are completely limited....AND YES WHILE ONLY USING TWO DECKS !

i completely agree with thictool.. its indeed need it that on some tracks i want to have two advance fx opened (reverb + delay), so i left out with fx slot for another deck.. and i agree that chained effects sounds 'cheap' and dull, just like the pre-fixed filters with overdone resonance..

NI, please go with more customizable work-flow, don't force that everyone should use the same pre-set things ;)

    +1 on everything said above...
As you say, Phil, we don't need 4 different effects on 4 decks at once, but at least the possibility to have a wet/dry control on each deck. I'm sure most of the people who play with 4 decks and use effects will agree with me. Is not to have more effects at once, just to have the possibility to route each deck independently into the effect.
