    hi all,
im considering updating my current system from Traktor Scratch to either Traktor Pro or TS Pro (i dont quite qualify for the free upgrade).

But i want to know how much CPU power each of them use up compared to Traktor Scratch. In particular, i want to know how low I should be able to set the latency of the Audio DJ 8 and not get any drop outs.

Im running a 2.1Ghz Macbook on OS 10.5.5 with 4GB ram. Currently I run it at 8.5ms latency with the time-stretching quality on the Phase Voc option. And i never run any apps in the background.

Ideally, I want to get the latency down to at least 5.5ms and not loose any stability or audio quality. Is there anyone here, who is running a similar laptop, who can verify i'll be able to do this?

Also, which version of OS X is best compatible with TSPro or Traktor Pro?

Currently im terrified of changing anything OS-wise on my Macbook in case it upsets Traktor Scratch (yes, it's a sensitive thing).

    cheers

ok ive worked out how i can upgrade from TS to TSP (anyone who's interested, read this: http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=proupdate&L=0 )

one more simple question: does TSP use the same timecode CDs and vinyls as TS?

TSP 1.1 uses 35% to 40% constantly in my setup.

This is because TSP always have the effects on according to support.

Dude the Grace Period Eligibility: Must have bought TRAKTOR SCRATCH between 5th October and December 31st, 2008.
Just pointing that out. When did you buy Scratch.

The Timecode that you have is exactly the same as the new vinyl/cds that are available . No need to purchase any new ones unless you want coloured vinyl.

If the OSX is running well for you , maybe leave it . Im still on 10.4.11 and have no intentions of moving for a while until im 100% TSP satisfied.

It looks like your Mac is slightly newer than mine. Same model but yours is the, max 4gb, mine is max 3gb. I have no issues with CPU load using timecode or midi contoller.

You wont have problems with your lappy.

    cheers guys : )

how many ms of latency are you running it on Karlos? I can't go below 5.5 currently, but generally use 8.5ms to be safe when im gigging. I really want less latency (at least down to 5.5ms) with TSP. Am i being realistic?

and i miss out on the grace period by 6 weeks : (

oh well, i got TS for a really good price. I'll still be ahead if i pay the US$99 to upgrade.

yeah it sits at around 25 - 45% of my CPU's power in mine, depending on whether one or two decks are playing. How does TSP compare?

Does Traktor Scratch Pro use noticeably less CPU power?

    another question:

    is the time stretching better?

the highest quality one in TS (Phase Voc), produces little squelchy artifacts in the high frequencies for me, but only in some tracks.

And the lower two dont sound as natural as the Phas Voc (when it's working properly).
