    My latency

My last cpu was a Toshiba 1.86 centrino with 1 gig of ram and it could achieve it 2.5ms at 44.1 using Win xp and Audio 8. I now use a Dell with a 2.2ghz Core2Duo 4mb l2cache 2 gig of ram on Vista Business 64bit and it can achieve 2.5ms at 96khz.

I will admit that I mainly only use 2 decks, but it will work with 4(with minimal to no pops) but as I turn things on such as filters, key locks, fx, it becomes slightly unstable.

I like to run EVERYTHING at once for an extended time and do labor intensive tasks such as back spins on various decks, various searches, midi implementation.

I must ask you Phil, why are yours and so many other so high? I am a scratch dj and rely heavily on INSTANT response, can you scratch on your setup like REAL vinyl?

I'm having the exact same problem as Phil. If Keylock is on, then I have to run ~20ms, turn it off and I could do 2.5ms if I want, but 4ms seems just about right.

On 4ms, sounds great until I hit the keylock, which turns the track into a scratch pop festival.

    EDIT
After further investigating (probably should have done this before posting I had a problem), if I set the keylock quality down to ECO and +/- 30%, it sounds pretty good at 4ms. Any other combination of quality and it's a very noticeable drop in sound quality. I'm sure Phil has messed with the Keylock settings and tried all those combos, but I figured I'd post my experience with it.

Listed in new and improved features of upcoming 1.0.3 update:

    • New time-stretching algorithm (tbc)

Is this what you're waiting for, Phil?

Its because I run Stretching on Hi Qual, stretch mode to Always and set pitch fader to 35% or greater. If I turn off all this stuff I can pull 2.5 MSec no problems. All the juicy mashup stuff I do gets killed by the simple act of cueing a track in a deck. If that got fixed I would be a way happy camper.

On my iDeneb 1.3 system TS Pro 1.0.2 works just fine with 3 ms latency, but when i drag a new track to the deck i get many pops and clicks while new track is analysing
On my optimized Windows XP SP2 i cal run 1 ms USB/4 ms AUDIO latency without any issues. (96khz both OSes)

    My specs:
    -Acer Aspire 2920Z pumped (C2D T7500 2.2Ghz, Corsair 2GB DDR2-667, Western Digital 320 GB)
-Windows XP SP2 (fully optimized for Traktor), MAC OS X 10.5.5 Leo (iDeneb 1.3)
    ---
LOL, changed USB port for Audio 8 DJ and problem is gone, 2ms for 30 minutes with no problems

So here is a test I would VERY much love to see people try. This is an especially valuable test case for the "lucky ones" among us that currently are experiencing NO keylock issues. It no a matter of saying see I told ya but rather I'm looking to get as much data on this issue as can possibly be mustered.

Below is a simple test script I should take around 10 mins to complete Just walk through very carefully and complete each step then post back your results here.

    Test Setup
Using whatever soundcard you run setup your audio for 44.1K
Note your current Latency settings in Traktors Audio Settings preferences page.
From Transport Tab, Set your settings for Pitch Range to 35%. Keylock Quality = HiQ and Keylock Range = Always.
Load a track into Deck A. Set pitch to 0.0%
Set Master clock to Manual. Match master clock tempo to the exact tempo of Deck A
Turn Key Lock on on Deck A. Set key adjustment to 0.00
Drag and Drop Deck A onto Deck B
    Click Play on Deck A
Click on the Waveform (not the stripe) in Deck B and very very slowly drag the Waveform left or right at slightly faster or slower speeds Listen for Audio Crackles or pops in the output as the Waveform for Deck b moves slightly/slowly.
Turn off keylock on Deck A and repeat deck drag test, note any changes in the output.
If Audio Crackling is observed then turn off Keylock on Deck B and repeat the drag portion of the test. Note the results.
If crackling occurs when keylock is turned on then, ensure its turned and increase audio latency to 35MSec and repeat the drag test. Wre now looking to find the latency boundary at which crackling begins/stops when dragging the wveform slowly. Increase or decrease the latency a few Msec at a time. At each latency settings change, check to see if the audio pops or crackles occur. It is likely that the crackles will noticably reduce when latency increases to beyond ~29MSec.

Please post up your results including basic specs for your system
Win/Mac, Processor type and speed, Ram, Soundcard, Normal audio Latency.
