I got me a TSP not long ago, used it 4 times now and had about 15 program freezes at multiple instances. The program freezes and will only shut down when forced to by the operating system. However, the Traktor process keeps running and will not shut down. So the PC has to be started over in order to be able to run Traktor again. All other software keeps working just fine, though, it is only Traktor that freezes.

I used it in the internal mixer mode as well as the external one. Most crashes happen when I switch the Layout or the Sound Card.

For example: I am playing a record, both decks are switched to audio through. No other software (Antivir, Firewall etc.) is running, Internet Connection Disabled. But I don't have a signal in the external mixer. So I go ahead and switch the sound card in the audio setup to Audio 8 DJ - Traktor freezes.

Second example: I play music with Traktor and pull the power plug at the laptop in order to get rid of the noise generated by the power charger - Traktor freezes.

Any ideas how I can switch the sound card or the input or output details without having Traktor die?

    Here is my hardware config:

    Traktor Scratch Pro 1.2.3
    Dell Studio 1737 Laptop
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2 x 2,26 GHz
    4 GB RAM
    Audio 8 DJ
    2 x Technics MKII 1210
    Behringer DJX700 Mixer
Akai LPD8 Midi Controller (not connected the last couple of times)

This is most probably due to your power options.

You should set everything to High performance and disable windows control over USB in the device manager.

    That's not the solution

Thanks for your ideas regarding the power management, I'll try that. Might be that this solves the problem with the power connection. However, the biggest part of the problem is that Traktor freezes / crashes very very often - especially once I switch the Sound Card or the Layout.

And that the Traktor process won't shut down thereafter, so that I need to restart the PC.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    What OS are you running?

I was getting frequent freezes after launching Traktor with Vista after the Traktor 1.2.x updates. I just upgraded to Windows 7 and so far no freezes during my initial testing.

You could try disabling hardware you don't use in the device manager. For example, CD Rom, WIFI, bluetooth, etc. Also in device manager, verify your power management settings for "USB Root Hub". Make sure "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is not selected.

Furthermore, find the Processor Scheduling settings and select "adjust for best performance of: Background Services"

Have you tried the DPC Latency Checker yet?

I have the same problem. When I maximize the TSP (make it Full Screen), it is freezing. I have a Dell D820 2.0 Ghz with 4gb ram. I have only installed Windows XP as OS, Ableton 8, Kore 2, Komplete 6, Maschine and TSP. All latest updates. No firewall, no Virus Scanner or any other applications. Windows XP tuned to perform at maximum.

What scares me is that the freeze might happen when I am using TSP live without hitting the maximize at all.

One other thing I don't understand is that in the options, I don't see a page with Midi Devices like mentioned in the manual. Only the Midi Clock is shown. I don't know if it is related...

Tienitus: To get rid of the noise from the powersupply, just get rid of the earth. I switched the power supply to another one with a plug without earth and the hum is gone... (or make an extension cable without earth connected).

This may be an issue with your nvida gfx drivers. Try some different ones, or ones from laptopvideo2go.com.

    For who it may concern...

It looks like it was a sort of corrupt configuration file. I deleted the config file and created a blank one with the wizzard. Then I imported only my controller asignment table and it is running stable. pfff.
