It would be nice to have a easy dedicated switch to turn the lights off and on when the keyboard is sitting idle for a long period of time.

What ;);) I do no get the answers . :)

I do no use scale mode either.... But my Mk s49 have blue the lights for every key on all the time, no scales - just a little blue light for every key .... On my MK1 S88 I had the option to turn the light guide - meaning they would never light up - ever !!

I think the Blue lights are anti zen to look at - I would like them off - all the time....

Is that not possible with the new MK2 keyboards ??????

Answered how to not have light guide ;) The constant blue I think is not possible to turn off. I guess would be nice to have customize/on-off as a feature.

I asked this question to NI and got this answer:

Forget it - you are stuck with the lights - the MK2 is a massive step back in functionality - lightguides - non working transport - cannot name templates - no zones - plus a whole host of stuff the MK1 could do. Got nice screens tho.

Its such a shame. I was hopeful for KK 2.0, but nope. Seems like such a simple option to include and it would allow me to keep my MKII on always... instead, they've got me thinking of selling the thing because of it's constant blue glow.

So for MK2 there is not this option in Komplete Kontrol > Preferences > Hardware?

No i'm running an MK1 and that is where it is switched off. Just another function MK2 users don't appear to get for no apparent reason.

The "apparent reason" is that it's a "complete rewrite" and "completely different" according to NI, which if that is the case, why is it called KK MK2 and not a new model name rather than making it sound like an upgrade on the predecessor? Unbelievable to think that the MK2 has been out for a year now and it's still just a very pretty looking downgrade.

Been wanting this as well. I don't need the lights and never want them on. My band liked the lights so I feel a bit better about having them on. Even so, I'd still like a 'no color' option to turn them off.

Maybe you can apply a thin strip of gaffer tape to obscure the light guide.

I have also just corresponded with NI about this issue.
I think they are going to look at it soon, as they have sent the request to the dev department.
Really looking forward to having a fix update to this. Hope they are going to do it. We are many who are annoyed about this. And this item is a professional tool. It’s not just a gimmick keyboard. So it would be rediculous not to do the update.

    Hi Mikael Ylitalo
Thanks for trying to solve the problem. I tried what you did, nice to see that its possible to actually turn the lights off, although it doesn't help much as the sound also disappears.
BUT, i have solved the light-problem in a very practical DIY kind of way. I have bought black tape and simply put a strip of it on the keyboard. So now I don't see the lights :) Maybe you want to try this advice yourself - it works ;)

Yes, sure:) I actually think they will do the update. I received a reply from the customer service a few months back that kind of indicated that. But let's see.
Btw, the tape that i have chosen to use is a very nice black "electrical tape" that has kind of the same surface as the S49. Cheap work around. But, yea you should do want you prefer :)
