Thought so, so I tried but didn’t work. I changed the MIDI CC on the pedal page and clicked apply but it didn’t work. Also, when messing around with it, it seemed to not make the buttons black anymore — I saved a preset and would restore and apply it and it was working until it mysteriously didn’t. Maybe it’s because I’m on Sierra. It’s OK, the fact that it kinda worked for a moment is promising!

The pedal input 1 defaults to expression pedals. Did you try to change the connected device in the pedals tab to "foot switch" for pedal 1? If you do so, the editor fields below should change, permitting to define CCs for the tip and ring connector as well as the switch mode.

I did. I changed it from 74 to 69 and hit apply. It still didn’t work. That’s what I was confused. Will try again today. Perhaps you can give me a preset to load if you have it working on your end? I really appreciate this software!

Figure it out, I needed to use foot pedal 1 and make it control CC64

GoaSkin Is there a way to set my new preset to default when loading qkontrol? I want it to load on start up and choose "yes" and load my preset.

OK, now I understand what you were trying. To configure a foot switch, you must not do that on the button page because the button page configures the eight buttons above the displays.

Instead, you need to go onto the pedal page and select "food switch" as device (where I placed the star). Then, all the parameter widgets beyond will change allowing you to set the foot switch parameters.

Because you can connect two pedals on the KK, all the settings appear twice on the page - to configure the devices either connected to "pedal 1" or "pedal 2".

I will think about your suggestion regarding the default preset but I am afraid that the program may not be very backward compatible. When I compiled it the last time, I had macOS 10.13 installed. Meanwhile I have 10.14 and I don't know if the compiler will create something that depends on a newer OS version.

    This is awesome!

If anyone is looking for a quick and easy way to turn the light off without installing additional software (for MIDI Mode only)

    - Open Komplete Kontrol
    - Menu (down arrow) > Instruments > Native Instruments > Kontakt
    - Menu > View > Edit View
    - Floppy Disk Menu (top right of Kontakt instance) > New Instrument
    - Minimize the KK window and leave it running in the background while you work

Now you can finish that orchestration or practice in peace :D

I'm a professional software engineer. Currently, I'm creating a program which listens to my playing, and changes the lights according to what I'm playing.

The program already has the ability to turn off the lights. I could make it a standalone program, available for everyone as an executable file. You would be able to double click it & immediately turn off the lights. If anybody would be interested in this kind of program, I'd gladly make it. It won't take me a lot of time.

Make sure to let me know, then I'll get right to it. If I hear nothing, it would be pointless to create it haha.

Create a project on Github or Sourceforge and share your source. Non-commercial closed-source freeware is the lamest kind of software ever.

Will do. I have just been informed by improvpwnd that he uses macOS. My solution has only been tested on Windows. It's created using Python, so it could still work cross-platform, if the libraries used support macOS. I do not have a macOS device, so I will not be able to test it, maybe someone else is willing to try it?

I will get back to this thread when I created the Github project, I should have time to do it within a couple of days at most.

Awesome, any chance you'll port this to Mac? I can't believe I can set the zones and colors on my MKII but I cannot turn the color off or dim it. What is the issue Native Instruments?

The code is already there, but I can't compile the executable to a mac device, simply because I don't have a mac device myself.

I've explained it in [this](https://github.com/EdwinVanRooij/komplete-darkness/issues/10) issue:

"It should be possible to compile this app to mac os without any code modifications. Simply just by publishing the app (using the python3 setup.py build command) on a mac device..."

Just wanna throw out a thanks to AverageSolusUser for doing this and sharing. Just sorry more here have not hit the 'like' button on your posts and given you a little credit, especially after all the annoyance in not being able to do this in the KK software itself.

    Haha thanks for the appreciation!

I don't care about likes on this forum, but I will admit that I expected much more traffic on the 'releases' page on my github project page, given how popular this thread is on the NI forums. I guess many people gave up all hope when they watched this thread years ago?

Anyway, I still use the program daily from my 'startup programs' folder, so it's been useful to at least someone :)

Hehe, sure, well... if there's one thing i really love about the internet, it's people going out of their way to help others. So again, nice 1!

p.s. Native Instruments.... we shouldn't be needing to do this though, eh?! ....
