what's the best way to shut it down?
i don't like shutting my mac down at night, it usually causes more problems than it solves. i don't want burn in on the maschine screens either by leaving it plugged in, it's a bit annoying that the screen stays active even when the mac is in sleep mode. what's the correct procedure / options to turn it off?

Either unplug the controller or shut your Mac down.

Or... plug it into a powered USB hub which has an easy to reach switch or buy one of those remote control plugs, I use one of those and it's pretty cool, you can shut off everything that's not needed at once - usb drives (make sure they're ejected first), printers etc.

Myself, I just shut down everything if I'm away for more than an hour or so.

if i unplug then plug in, i sometimes get a sudden latency on the controller, it becomes around half a second late when i hit the pads etc. a full restart does the trick. it's be nice if the unit could be set to power off itself under certain conditions.

just pulling the cable out the back seems a bit harsh, if you know what i mean?

Sure- the USB ports don't wake up correctly. It's always better to shut down when you unplug.

With Windows, you can shut down the driver and close the port. OSX doesn't allow you to do this.

This annoys me too that the display is left on (albeit dimmed). It would be nice if there was an option that could be selected to turn the display off when Maschine is not in use.

    Anyone worried about screen burn-in?

When you close the Maschine program, the hardware goes into "sleep" mode where all buttons go dark and both screens show some light graphics. Those light graphics (logo and image of maschine and some text) do not change to prevent screen burn in. Wonder if you kept Maschine in sleep mode too long if these images would burn in? Any concerns? Any chance for a screen saver NI?

What's up with all the recent hardware lacking an on/off button?

I have to unplug 4 things when I want to shut everything down.
The Mac Pros keep the USB and FW ports on when on sleep...

    Power buttons are cheap.

    *bump*

I can't believe that nearly a year later, this still has not been formally addressed by NI.

How hard is it to have the displays go dark after a few minutes?

Which is why it should just turn off when you turn off the software, or if you leave the software running for some reason but wanna turn off the controller be able to do it in the software.
