GR is great, flexible, powerful, etc., but one of the biggest kicks I get out of it is the spring reverb in the Twang Reverb amp. Too realistic.

Has anyone been able to isolate that spring reverb component to use it as an effect? IOW, without hearing much of the Twang amp.

The Spring Reverb effect component is fine... just not the same.

What's a shame is that there are some weird anomolies in the Twang amp model - for instance, it makes more noise with the tremelo turned OFF than on. So I've been going out of my way to take it out of all my patches, replacing it w/ Tweed or Gratifier, plus the Spring Reverb.

So I guess I'm moving in the opposite direction.

    Hey darc.

I hadn't noticed the anomalies... maybe all the Twins I've played were messed up and noisy :) I love the Tweed and Gratifier for tougher sounds, but I haven't been able to get them to do that "Mystery Train" thing. You know? clean with a nightmarish mash of slap-back, sproinging springs... It's like a time machine.
