    hi

i got me a tascam 122L interface the other day and tried some recording with guitar rig 3. I noticed a lot sound presets beeing available, however they don't quite satisfy me. What i need is a typical metalcore sound like as i lay dying, chimaira or killswitch engage or some really heavy deathcore sound whose breakdowns just blow you away (Bring Me The Horizon, Suicide Silence, We Butter The Bread With Butter^^).
Is there any chance to get just a bit near it with guitar rig?
I'm a total noob with the programm.. I don't know much about sound technique in general which is why i'm kind of stuck with guitar rig.. I don't really catch on what amp am I gonna use for an admissable modern metal sound.

Since we're at it, i'd like to know as well how to get a nice, clean 80s metal sound like in michael angelo batios metal tutorials :p

well all this sounds much, but hopefully you can give me some useful hints of what amp and dist i have to use and what kind of EQ ist best to get a nice sound.. i really have no idea why there has to be like a billion different EQ components for instance.. where's the difference anyway? All this is so confusing^^

I've had a lot of luck with getting really dark metal tones. My advice:
stick with the ultrasonic or gratifier
use the parametric eq to notch out some of the mids.
try stereo setups using a 4x12 on one side and a bass cab on the other
try the frequency splitter panned left and right. put a different amp in each side
    use compresion before the amp
don't go crazy with gain - save your tone.
    experiment a lot

    1. I think this is a strange type of complaint, or just expectation if you like. This is a USER forum, it's voluntory, mening that noone is paid to jump in and answer any requests imediately. Now it's even the holiday season. If you're lucky you will meet someone with the same musical taste as you, who have discovered some good tones and who are willing to share. Hint: it always helps to show that you've made some efforts yourself. Don't sit and wait. Your own experiments is the real fun with GuitarRig.

    2. On this very website: http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=guitarriguserlib&type=0&ulbr=1 I think it's kind of hidden.

well where i live holidays didn't start yet, i didn't know that holidays already started in some regions of the world^^
besides many other requests where answered during that time. That made me think that my request might be too difficult to solve, so I was just asking for some site where I can download some samples.
And there, it didn't took long for you to answer, which I really appreciate. So it made sense to ask for that, don't you think so? :p
And metalcore really is not an exceptional music taste. There are billions of metalcore bands that spring up like mushrooms all over the world at present..
I for my share didn't just sit arround. I asked some friends to help me and already made some progress after hours, but they weren't really noteworthy for beeing posted here. Of course I can't blame you for charging me to sit arround and just wait, since I didn't post my "progress", but i really tried much stuff in that time.
But it's just frustrating to alter buttons and knurls for hours, while you actually planned to record a song during that time. Unfortunately I also have other liabilities during the day.
However thanks for the link :)
