what's stopping you using it now? it's not like it's broken or anything....

the question wasn't for me but as i am in the same situation i answer.

nothing is broken but as soon as you use more than just the original library be very careful what you do to your system. i was not able to restore my (backed up) lib after reinstalling my system which means i was not able to reopen my tracks without searching for almost every single sample. as long as there are no genius tracks i bet you would give up as well after 15-20 minutes of frustrating sample search. not to forget the even more frustrating point when you realise that all the work it took to apply categories to the sounds was done for nothing

the sequencer of maschine is not practical at all. so far it is not possible to select one step and adjust basic things like pitch (in note values), length (in bars) and other parameters on the controller. i know that you can automate these things but it is not practical at all to make a change before the event AND after the event to prevent maschine playing all following notes with the same changes (and changing length in % for example is not very practical). you can easily change the parameters on the pc but I want to sit in my beanbag with the thing on my lap and don't care about my laptop apart from the fact that i am teathered to it.

i am sure there are more reasons but i think the point is clear.

Thanks for keeping us informed Thomas.

    It's only a couple of days and solid-er is better-er realistically. :)

I guess I'll be 100% more effective at work today. Hey Thomas, if you need some help doing the internal beta testing, just put me on the payroll. I'll work for cheap! ;)

I'm really looking forward to the midi CC messages and better event editing from the controller. Being able to add sustain and pitch bend is a must.

Does anyone know if the public beta will include the new sound library as well, or will that come later?

Of course it's not broken. It just needed to be better...and based on the info provided I'm sure it will be. Then I can start using it the way I want to and justify giving up my MV8800....

    :D

hey wymark I feel you on that, there are a few big projects I want to start, but Im waiting for the update, because of the changes. Ive played around with some simple stuff but what I want to do in standalone anway will probably be a lot easier after the update, so why fight it now? :)

if you did not back up the maschine.db file located in a folder on your computer then as you said the database you built with your own samples will be lost.

FOR ALL PC OWNERS THAT HAVE BUILT THERE OWN SAMPLE COLLECTIONs MAKE SURE YOU REGULARY BACK UP THIS FILE LOCATED HERE
    C:Users(YOUR USER NAME)AppDataLocalNative InstrumentsMaschine
    its in the pic below

thats some serious misinformation, read the manual

pitch once you have set the root pitch do the math 12 keys in a scale from a c1 to
    c2 = 12

length in bars press the step sequncer and set how many bars you wish to programme and then freestyle it dont need to use the step sequncer,

lastly the controller does alot, the integration is something you cant put down.

to set the loop length (if thats what you mean) just get the rec button lit up then hold pattern and twiddle the encoder to set you desired loop length in bars. no mousing around.

i am on a mac. couldn't find a maschine.db file using spotlight because this was what was recommended to me on this forum before.

what you change with the root pitch is the root pitch of the SAMPLE and NOT of THE INDIVIDUAL STEP. as i wrote before you could do it automation style and set pitch to -+ the deired value BEFORE the step you want to edit and back AFTER the step you want to edit to make sure that you just edit the desired step.
tough if you have 2 notes directly after each other then maschine gets confused and apart from this is this a very uncomfortable way of editing.
haven't used maschine for a while might be possible that i am wrong here but i think i remember that this was one of the problems

regarding the length. what you can set there is the PATTERN LENGTH and not the length for the note. if you can freestyle good but what do you do if you want to change something after your freestyling (i am not that good and exact in playing pads)? if you wanted to prgramm cut beats you have to be very precise with notelength to prevent the cuts overlapping (not talking about sliced loops as slicing doesnt work very good so far and in my opinion is useless without a match quantize).

maybe it is too much to ask for but when i bought kontakt (1) everthing was working perfect. i could still use the very first version and make music with it. with maschine i permanently came across things that stopped "my flow" because i had to get to the computer again.
but hey doesnt matter. more interested in implants now anyway...

On a mac the maschine database is called Maschine Library and is in ~/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments. You will need to include system files in your spotlight search if you want to find it. Time Machine is great for backing this up because it preserves all your original file structures.

    Thanks!

Where can i adjust the options for the spotlight search?

As soon as 1.5 is out I probably do a pure audio system on an external hd with hopefully no need to redo the system. there is just very little space left on my hd anyway :(
