... should open the folder. I'm talking about the lower view. I find it quite annoying that the database browser forces me to navigate among folders in the upper view and among files in the lower view. It's much easier to be able to do this in the same place. The file browser doesn't have this limitation - double-clicking a folder opens it.

Another UI issue, when expanding an item it would be desirable that the view automatically scrolled if needed to show as many as possible of the expanded subitems.

Agree. The browser is a bit clumsy to navigate.

Change the browser to emulate the look, functions and feel of the Host operating system. ie. Windows or Mac.

The familiarity reduces confusion (not another interface to learn) and increases speed, efficiency and workflow.

Both Apple and Microsoft are pretty good at designing interfaces: why reinvent the wheel?
I'm not a programmer but would it possible to just hook Kontakt into the OS file system?

I don't remember how it worked pre 2.2, but it does work now in K2.2. If I double click a folder - lower as well a upper pane - it opens or closes as it should. Stand alone as well as VST.

I also agree. They should replace the browser by a real browser, for example a mozilla window, and install an apache server serving sql data through customizable php pages.

I am using such an interface in a custom host with a custom sampler and nothing I ever saw comes close to this in usability.

that's partly the reason why I requested a tcp/ip telnet server in K2, so I could dump my custom (minimalistic) sampler and use K2 instead.

The "lower" window folders will open....ONLY if you build your database by selecting volumes. If you try and build by selecting specific folders within hard drives....then lower folders are not active.
I built my database by scanning the entire harddrives. Then I customized the view using the view options.
    It must be a bug.
