For some reason whenever I drop a cue point in Traktor and then use the drop down menu to turn it into a grid marker, it disappears. I have a feeling I'm missing something obvious here, but I'm completely unable to create a beat grid for tracks in S4 like I used to in Traktor Pro. Anyone else having this problem, am I just forgetting something simple?

It works if I insert a load marker first, then try to make a beat marker. But I can't just create a beat marker first. WEird.

I rebooted my MBP and now it seems to be working for most tracks. There's still a couple that I'm just unable to grid no matter what.

Disappears the gridmarker on the waveform or is the gridmarker not automatically a hotcue?

Looks like the grid mark is not showing.
When you go to the CUE tab and click the 2 aero buttons above CUE 1 and 2 you croll true the markers.
Then there is a autogrid marker between the CUE's

Now I have track with Autogrid on CUE 5, but CUE 5 is not showing on the 8 CUE buttons. When I now press CUE 5 it turns bleu.. but it is still a gridmarker.
but the strangest thing is that next to the 2 aero buttons the CUE number is 6

So CUE 5 still is the gridmarker when you scroll true the CUE's ... and CUE button 5 is acting like CUE 6

Looks like a BUG to me ;-)

@Jeroentje2: I'm not sure if I understand it. Could you attach a screenshot?

Done this with the software only on my desktop computer.

    step1
Cleared the hole track from cues and grid marker
    [IMG]

    placed the first CUE
    [IMG]

    Placed a seccond CUE
    [IMG]

go to the GRID tab and clicked AUTO
    [IMG]

    back to the CUE tab
    and placed CUE 3
    [IMG]

When I know scroll true the CUE point using the 2 arrows above CUE 1 and 2 you will see that number 1 (rights next to the arrows) is AUTOGRID
    [IMG]

When I know press CUE 1 it shows 2 next to the arrows
    [IMG]

if I press CUE 2 it show 3 next the the arrow.. but it goes to CUE 2 in the track.
if I press CUE 3 it show 4 next the the arrow.. but it goes to CUE 3 in the track.

    OPEN THE PREFERENCES!

there is a new option to make beatmarkers show up in the hotcue list or not.

Ok got it, there is a new feature with Beatmarker and Hotcues. Here an excerpt from a new tutorial Karlos is editng at the moment. This could clear things up:

    NEW: Beatmarkers and Hotcues
In the default setting of the S4 controller you have four buttons to set and select hotcues 1 to 4 of a track. (You can change that by open Preferences/Kontrol S4 dialog, open the drop down list Sample Play Buttons and select Hotcue 5-8 from the list. Then you can control the Hotcues 5 to 8 with the sample play buttons on the S4 controller.)
To make optimal use of the four default Hotcue buttons you can exclude the beatmarkers to become hotcues automatically. This is done with the new checkbox on Preferences/Decks.
    @@SCREENSHOT
If the option Include Beatmarkers to Hotcues is checked, then each beatmarker that is either set during the track analysis or manually will be mapped to a Hotcue button (of course, only as long as not all eight Hotcue buttons are occupied). If you uncheck this option beatmarker can still be set and they show up in the waveform and the stripe of a track, but they are tagged as "not a hotcue" and don't occupy a Hotcue slot.
This option affects only NEW beatmarkers. If you import tracks with beatmarkers that are set in earlier Traktor versions and if that beatmarkers were hotcues as well, the beatmarker hotcues won't be removed.

P.S.: So at the very beginning of your track there are actually two cue points:
Cuepoint 1, the white marker, is a beatmarker type, not attaced to a hotcue slot
Cuepoint 2, the blue marker, is a normal cue point, attached to hotcue slot no 1

    Brilliant feature!

If you load a track that was gridded in PRO, and you use the Shift+Cue1 button to remove the cue point, will it keep the beatmarker and remove the hotcue, or will it remove both?

A CUE and and a HOTCUE are not quite the same thing. The 8 buttons you are referring to are HOTCUE buttons. (You can only have 8 HOTCUE's)

The number next to the arrows are the CUE numbers. You can have many CUE's. In TPro the manual mentions 32 CUE's but Rainer has proved you can have many more than that. (At least up to 150).

Now what happens is you can map a CUE to a HOTCUE button. But you can map any CUE to be on any HOTCUE. When you press a HOTCUE button that has not been assigned yet, what Traktor actually does is create a CUE at that point in the track and then map that CUE onto the particular HOTCUE button.

In your example you tried to map HOTCUE 1. There were no cues yet so traktor created a CUE (CUE 1) and mapped it to HOTCUE 1. If you had tried to map a different HOTCUE first (say HOTCUE 7) traktor would have created CUE 1 and mapped it to HOTCUE 7.

Going back to your example what has happened is you tried to create HOTCUE 1 so traktor made a CUE 1 and mapped it to HOTCUE 1.
When you created the next HOTCUE (HOTCUE 2) traktor made CUE 2 and mapped it to HOTCUE 2. Same thing for HOTCUE 3&4.

Now the next thing you created was a BEATMARKER. So traktor created the next free CUE (CUE 5) and mapped it to be the BEATMARKER.

When you tried to create HOTCUE 5 traktor created the next free CUE which was CUE 6 and mapped that to HOTCUE 5.

If you haven't created any more HOTCUE's or any other type of CUE you can prove what I am saying by trying to map HOTCUE button 8. When you map that traktor will use the next free CUE number which is actually CUE 7 and then map that to HOTCUE button 8. etc etc.

Not a bug. Hope I explained well enough.

Have a read of the manual on cues. Have a look at the function of store and map as well. May help you to understand.

Thanks RanierH. I guess my issue is that this new feature is not working consistantly across all tracks then. I don't have the option to hide my grid markers checked in the preferences, but some new tracks I'm gridding still act like that.

I know where the option is. :)

I'm saying that even with that option checked, some beat markers are still disappearing.

    Okay, misunderstanding.
Does it happen with tracks where you set multiple beatmarkers, or does it happen as well if only one beatmarker is set?
