I will leave the marketing expertise to NI. The build quality of Maschine is adequate. Its layout is adequate. It doesn't get any cool points for style/design.

Maschine was designed to be a simple groove box. Ni has added way more than they had initially planned. So as the software matures, they need redesigned hardware to ensure all the new features are intuitive to work with.

Good list of features the 2 I'm most loking forward to are:

    1. Built in drum synthesis, Ive always liked designing my own drums from scratch.
    2. Loop Sync. For keeping my various percussion loops in sync when I change BPM.

i have to say i am very happy with the Maschine Controller, it is a great size for doing gigs.

there is no way that i would take something the size of the Akai Ren on the road.

and please realize that the original post on the Gearlutz forum could be total bs. please take it with a pinch of salt.

Sounds interesting, but if not confirmed, then I'm not interested. Don't wanna get my hopes up from rumors. That never ends well. Like someone said before me, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'm still waiting on 1.8...Hope it comes soon. Because, I'm getting kinda tired of peoples wish lists and speculatory assumptions about what they know nothing about. Seems everyone is becoming more and more impatient, hence threads such as this one.

    wtf

wassup with peeps saying they dont want a feature created?

maschine is not just for u so just cos u dont value the feature thats not to say it should not be implmented.

i like my drums sampled but i know alot of electronic guys would like a built in drum synth, i aint gonna come on here and say that ni should not waste development time implementing it cos there are other peeps that would love that feature.

like my production style is very simple i dont use alot of complex midi routing or other **** i dont care about it but i aint mad at someone requesting that ****.

peeps need to cut that ego-centric bullshit out maschine is for all kinds of different producers.

if there is a feature u dont like, dont use it.

i'd love to have a simplified daw in maschine so i can easier build compositions and id like the multicore support that was i dont need to mess with a daw.

There is a market for guys like me that will keep the controller at home in the studio. And besides, a larger controller weighing about 10 lbs is easy to travel with. NI will miss the boat not considering all of its customer's needs. As mentioned previously, go back and read earlier Maschine threads. We had people in this forum actuallly complaining about improvements to Maschine and that Maschine didn't need to me an MPC, etc. Then when OS 1.5 and 1.6 arrived, some of the same individuals are now the champions of the new features. Really?

    my 2 cents.

i don't need a Drum Synth in Maschine, because i have Reaktor.

what i need far more is better MIDI routing - so i can route 16 pads to one instance of Reaktor that has a Drum Synth, or even a 16 Cell Battery kit.

i also need Drag n Drop MIDI Import.

and better Audio routing so i can use the Side-chaining feature in Guitar Rig.

after i have all of the above, then it would be interesting to have a Drum Synth in Maschine because i am sure it would be interesting.

    This, Sowri is right on.

indeed audio/midi routing is most cumbersome IMO (especially midi).

As said, there is Reaktor and Battery, which merely would need further integration (especially Battery). So, 2.0 should be software IMO. Seriously, with Batter alone you have more sound than to shake a stick at.

that said, NI might just make a new controller for the sheer fact of all gear junky's out there.:(

multi-core awareness! better integration with Sonar X1 & Battery! don't need another DAW, unless the DAW itself is a VST to be opened in Sonar (or rewired into Sonar w/ Sonar's x64 rewire coming in February!)

Have to agree with Sowari on his portability and improved internal audio/midi routing points.

I would personally favor an expander controller to add to the existing one but if there's a real market for a larger controller as well then that's cool.

I think it would be a mistake to change the controller for version 2, eventhough it may look nice to have something bigger with more bells and whistles I think it will be a bad decision now. First off it'll cost NI more for development/testing/materials which means more cost for the consumer. If they add a built-in audio interface like the MPC renaissance then that's even more cost. I think NI risk giving major ground to Akai if they change their hardware (because of price increase) because although I love Maschine if everything being equal (specifically the price) I think the MPC would be more appealing, the reason I got rid of my MPC in the first place is that I hated when it was time to dump my tracks from the MPC to my daw (it took too long).
If NI did change the hardware then one suggestion would be to give Maschine the ability to work with or without a computer, have a computer mode and a stand alone mode now that would be dope.
