i have some questions about kore that do not seem to have been asked on here before.
i would very much like to know more about this mysterious product before diving in.

-are the knobs actually knobs or encoders?
(do they rotate smoothly or do they step, like that grinding feeling?)

-can you change patches inside of instruments inside of reaktor?
(can you move from one patch to another within an ensemble using only the controller? and while im at it can you move from a preset in one .ens to a preset in another .ens with only the controller?)

-also, can i move though the presets of virtual instruments that used kompakt or intakt with a 3rd party sample supplier (i.e. colossus or ra or those symphonic instruments they have..)
i know its a real ***** moving from one sound to another in those and it would be amazing to be able to scroll through the patches using the controller

-what upgrades of instruments are required other than upgrading the kore software itself to the newest version?
(will reaktor session work in kore?...ive been wanting to upgrade to reaktor 5, but i know that it will not correctly open the limelight ensemble from the electronic instruments vol.2 library
e.i. the tie section doesnt work right, and considering this is by far my favorite instrument, this is simply not groovy)

-is this a product that you users feel will AT SOME POINT be developed to the concept you think it should be...albeit after many updates to the software side?

-when you map a controller to a parameter, it supposedly will use a much higher resolution than midi...which obviously leads me to beleive its not communicating with midi, but rather somthing proprietary or perhaps somthing similar to the OSC protocol. im guessing whatever this form of control that is used was originally developed for communication between the guitar rig foot controler and the software
......hmm.....not really much of a question in there...
just trying to spark conversation i suppose

thanks in advance to anyone who answers any part my quiz
    -z

    OK...

1} They're encoders. They're very smooth, and the sensitivity's adjustable. While I haven't been able to dial them in to exactly what I want, they're definitely usable.

    2) All depends on what you mean. With the included KORE sounds for R5, you can step through them, but in standalone the sounds will stack up on each other. As a plugin, they'll just change. Sure you can change ensembles from the controller, but you'll have to wait for them to load.

Considering that any snap in the same KORE-ized enemble will use the same pages, there's an easy workaround for the standalone issue, though- add a snapshot module and use one of the controller knobs to call up snaps. I've done that to a lot of instruments...

    3) Not unless they get released in KORE sound format or you're willing to save them like that yourself.

    4) To get the full benefit, I'd upgrade to R5. The Limelite issue is fixable- in fact, there's an EIv2 KORE update that might have fixed it- I haven't checked (I don't use Limelite that much). Upgrading to the latest version of any NI plugin you have is a wise move- the KORE installer only installs updates for the latest version of each.

    5) I see a lot of future in this- especially after other manufacturers start embracing the format. As it sits right now, I find it hard to imagine how I got along without it- with six months more development, I can see lots of people saying that.

    6) No- it's not MIDI. It's host automation like GR is. OSC will come in a later update.

ok excelent, im starting to understand one aspect of the kore software that i have been very puzzled about.
so kore doesnt go into the plugin and retrieve its presets...but rather it needs to have the presets from that plugin saved in ksd format and becuase of this eveything is all tidy and consistant
am i getting the right idea?
