Thanks a lot for the update 4.0.2.

I first started the file "Kontakt 4 4.0.2 Setup PC.exe" for updating. Everythink ok!

Then I saw there is also a file called "Kontakt 4 Factory Content 1.0.1 Setup PC.exe". When I start this file a dialog opens where the only choice is to uninstall the factory content. Is that ok? But why uninstalling? Don't know what to do...

    Best regards,
    Peter

Yeah I saw the same thing and figured that since it was the only option, it must be the one they want you to execute. So I went ahead. I then watched in horror as the dialogs flashed by saying that they were deleting all my sounds. And of course there was no "cancel" option either. So I continued to watch the dialogs say they were deleting the sounds until it finished and said it had deleted them all successfully! Then in fear I opened up Kontakt and found all well. All the sounds were there. I think someone at NI decided to set this routine up just to give us a scare during the Halloween season.

the same and ran it again

I did the same with the same result and after that I ran it again: it reinstalled that factory thing, but what was/is in it? where?

<scared>So I've got this same popup open on the side of this browser window. I recall that about a month ago I needed to reinstall something (I believe it was Kontakt), and during the install it kind of asked me if it should leave everything alone, and then went ahead and deleted my entire library anyway. That is, the uninstall left kindly the library, but the reinstall decided to delete it... I was so pissed off, you can't imagine. So now I'd like to know if everything will be okay if I press uninstall</scared>

Why the hell does it need to uninstall anyway?

Can't it just make an md5 hash on the files in question and if they match to what was expected to be found, just replace the "invalid" files, and else ask the user for how to proceed and what it was about to do and why it aborted and how the user can do this manually?

    This feels like playing roulette.

    ---------------

So I dared to do the uninstall and everything seems to be ok.

When I saw that the only option was "uninstall", I decided to quit this installer. I'm not entirely sure why it was delivered with the Kontakt 4.0.2 update. Maybe someone at NI could enlighten us?

    Thanks.

Hey, check my post in this thread:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?p=591878#post591878

I just tested this myself and yes, it is what you need to do. If you've already installed the first (4.0.1) library update, you need to run the second (library update 1.0.1) update TWICE, first to uninstall the old files, then again to install the new files. If you haven't installed the first update (4.0.1), you only need to run the 1.0.1library update. As I said in the other thread, completely unintuitive, never encountered an update that works that way, and no installation instructions to clue us in.

BTW, it's not uninstalling your entire library just a few files and I think most have to do with updating instrument performance views. This explains why I and a few others were having problems with missing instrument views. Didn't dawn on me, at least, to run the same file again to install the new files.
