Hey guys, pretty new to Kontakt and NI, just downloaded Kontakt 6 Player to run Djinn Bass and Invasion by GGD and it won’t let me update to the newest version. I’m stuck on 6.0.4, tried reinstalling, the stand alone player is also at same version and I can’t find anywhere to update to 6.2 even through NI. Says no updates available. Any tips or links?

Same here except that my Standalone version is up to date, we will have to wait I guess :/ Pretty frustrating considering that some my new libraries need the latest Kontakt version...

Right.. I purchased GGD and Djinn bass for my home studio which are supposed to be compatible with the newest free player but now I’m out a ton of money due to a small technical glitch. :/

What OS and version are you running? And in NA, what is the reported version installed?

this usually happens when you update Kontakt (Or any NI VST) and the Path the VST is installed to is not in your DAW VST scan path. Check the VST64 install Path Specified in NA (Windows Only) and see if it is in your Daw scan path.

with the limited information you all have provided as to your OS, Daws etc. that’s as specific as I can get!

    Peace,

Hey thanks for the reply! I’m running on Mac OSX El Capitan now. It actually doesn’t have an option whatsoever to update it which is the biggest issue I’m having. Invasion from GGD is showing up in the library and I’m being hit with the “Your Kontakt player is too old to run this file” and I’ve searched far and wide to figure out how to update to 6.2

the latest version of Kontakt requires 10.12 minimum Mac OS... I cannot specifically confirm, but I will assume that 6.0.4 is supported on 10.11. NA recognizes this and will only allow you to install versions that your OS supports.

Pretty sure the only option you have is the one you don’t want to hear... so I won’t actually say it, but you should be able to figure it out!!! ;)

Sorry I don’t have better news!

    Peace,

    Blindeddie

Oh wow for whatever reason that didn’t occur to me, I think because I had thought I had run all system updates on my OS prior. Just installed Mojave Mac OS 10.14 so hopefully that helps! Thanks so much!

that should do it, NA should now show version 6.2.2 of the Player.

    Thanks for the reply!

    OS: Windows 10
    DAW: Studio One

So I added a path for the VST64 folder and a second one for the VST32 but nothing has changed. I re-installed Kontakt 6 Player but now as soon as I launch Kontakt, the activation window pops-up (Demo, Activate, Buy) so I think that my DAW doesn't 'see' the .dll even with the right path. I only have this issue with NI products. For example Phasis is installed like any other effect but it doesn't appear in my DAW.
    Sorry for the typos
    Thanks!

Did you try “Reset Blackist” when rescanning VSTs in S1?

and when you reinstalled K6 Player, did you uninstall prior to reinstalling? (Using Programs and Features tool in the Control panel)?

not sure why the K6 Player would have a Buy link since it is free... interesting...

    Alright so:
I found an unknown K6 .dll in a second path used by my DAW, I deleted it, so my DAW doesn't pick this one up when launching k6. Thanks to this, Kontakt doesn't appear anymore in my Plugins.
Now the problem is that I cannot uninstall the remains of Kontakt, it says: "Windows doesn't find C:programData/---/Kontakt Setup PC.exe"
K6Player appears in NA in the non-installed tab but after installing it it says: Reaktor 6 has been installed (yes, Reaktor) and after refreshing, Kontakt re-appears in the non installed tab all over again.
I think that the only way to "break the loop" is to manually remove the internal files of K6 but I don't know how to do :/

if you go to this location, "C:\ProgramData\Native Instruments\Installer Log"

is there a .INI file for Kontakt 6? If so, that will show you the locations of where everything was installed. and the Registry Keys added. May give a clue as to what's going on...without seeing what is going on, I don't know if I can offer any more guidance as I am at a loss as to what is going on...

    Peace,

Last suggestion for today...restart your computer... try installing K6 Player... see what happens...

Nothing changes, I can't install K6 because NA thinks that it is already installed and I can't uninstall it because it also thinks that it is not installed :/

Also, I can see the Native Instrument icon on all my product in the uninstall menu of Windows but I only see the default windows program icon (the grey and blue one) for Kontakt and I remember that I could see the NI icon for Kontakt when I uninstalled it yesterday. It may be a sign of something

Does it say “Full Version” to the right of K6?

if so hover over it and it should change to reinstall... try that!

No, because I only have the Player version and it constantly appears in the Not Installed tab but I cannot install it

    Alright something funny happened...
I downloaded (once again) K6P from the "Not Installed" tab and I grabbed the .ISO from the installer in the Download folder of Windows. I manually installed K6P thanks to this .ISO and K6P was installed on an older version (6.0.2 if I remember correctly). Then Kontakt appeard in my "Update" tab of NA! I was happy!
Then the update literally uninstalled my Kontakt (32bit, 64bit and Standalone)... So there's definitely something wrong with the current version of NA
    *Sorry for the grammar*
