    Hello to you all owners,

    I need your help.
Can you please use a DAW with MIDI Monitor VST or just record a simple MIDI file/take? It does not need any sound. Please test the AfterTouch (Channel Pressure) of white and black keys while recording.

Do all the keys send off(0) on(127) or do some send some continous messages?

On my S88 MKII all white keys send off(0) on(127) while all my black keys send continous messages accordingly how hard I press down.

Thank you all and have a good start in the new year 2020.

    Kind Regards
    Devi Salias

I don't have the KK S88 MMII so maybe yours has some special mode set or something. The file I will upload next is just from an old DX7 transmitting on channel 1. Key on/Key off whether playing single nots or chords. Velocity info is the second data byte. Monophonic aftertouch also. Hope this helps

What DAW do you use? Can you post some captures from the data to show. I don't have an S88 either, I have an S61 MK1 and with Channel Pressure (Aftertouch) I get the following data as a test (which is normal):

    White key:

    Black Key

What is it you mean specifically?

Are you saying you don't get any aftertouch signal no matter how hard you press or that when you play a black key it continues to send note (or aftertouch) data when the key is released? Could be your keys are set to sensitive?

    en you say "continous message"

I have the S88 MK2 and can confirm both black and white keys behave the same way: Note On > Channel Aftertouch continuous (CC) > Note Off. The black keys do seem to require more pressure to activate and have more travel than the white ones, but I do get full range (00..7F) on both. The velocity setting doesn't seem to affect AT, and I am not sure if there is another way for it to be calibrated or modified.

    Hope this helps!

JesterMgee My white keys behave like a sustain pedal. They send on/of signal of AfterTouch (Channel Pressure) while my black keys behave like your posted images. I tested it in Reaper and Studio One. They behave the same.

Thank you R_E_D . So I will hope to get an answer of NI next week, which behavior is correct. Because your S88 seems to send continous messages on the white keys, too. Mine just on/off.

I had an S88 mk2 that sent normal aftertouch on the white keys and no aftertouch at all from the black keys. It was a fault. Retailer took it back without question.

So I got in touch with Support of NI.

I was told ALL white and black keys of the S88 MKII must send Aftertouch WITH pressure sensitivity in the range of 0-127.
So mine was fault on the white keys, which only sent 0(off) and 127 (on).

Test your S88 MKII and if you encounter any Aftertouch/Channelpressure issues I would suggest to get in touch with NI Support and maybe your music store dealer.

Kind regards and keep making music.
