    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on the status of the updates that you've all been waiting for. The 2.04 update is nearly ready and is in the advanced stages of the beta test.

The update will deliver, in addition to several small enhancements and improvements on all platforms:

    OSX:
-VST Plug-In now supports remote editing with Absynth Edit.

    OS9:
    -Improved timing with Logic Audio
    -Improved stability

    PC:
    -Improved timing with Logic Audio
    -Improved stability
    -Window positions remembered
    -Patch window updates correctly

And there is a tiny - but very cool - new feature for everyone: The ability to scale the tempo in plug-in mode! Now you can easily adjust tempo-synced loops to be doubletime, halftime, or 0.001 time : )

This update is being very carefully tested and therefore it is difficult to give an estimated release date. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding while we work on this update.

    Sincerely,

    Jake

    RTAS?

    What about RTAS plug-in compatability?

Pro Tools users have been waiting for several months.

I know you've been waiting a long time. The 2.04 update still doesn't include RTAS, but this is coming absolutely positively next. Most of the groundwork is laid for RTAS already, so I don't estimate that it will take too long.

    Best, Jake

RTAS...it will come in November. The website says so. We can trust NI, we're their customers.

    Number Box freezes figured out?

    Jake,

Did you guys figure out what was causing AB2 to arbitrarily crash when we clicked on the number boxes in Logic or in standalone mode?
I assume there are other fixes or tweaks included on the OS X side of things beyond the single item listed regarding the VST version, right?

    Hi Flexoffset,

Yes, you're indeed right - there was a bug causing crashes when using the number boxes. This has been fixed. Actually, there is several months worth of bugfixes under the hood - much, much more than VST editing has been put into this release.

    Thanks,

    Jake

    RTAS for Windows.

I know you already know this, but I think it bears repeating. RTAS is very, very important to some of us. Some of us already own copies of Absynth in anticipation of the RTAS support. :)

Ok, I'll resume waiting patiently now. (If there's space in the beta program, I'd be happy to provide you with my background and credentials. I would be a *very* good beta tester.)

Windows positions will be remembered ?

    Jake,

You stated that Windows positions will be remembered in the PC configuration. Does this mean that I won't have to eliminate the Navigator and Meter windows every freakin' time I start Absynth?

Also, I don't understand why there are minimize and maximize buttons on some windows when there's absolutely no reason to make windows larger than the default content size.

I'm curious if DP4 support is also included with this upgrade.

THanks for the update, Jake. Will the new patch address any of the Sonar 3.0 issues? As it stands right now, Absynth is kind of worthless...I love it...but I can't use it.

"The 2.04 update is nearly ready..." What happened to 2.02 and 2.03? If they're both beyond beta, why not release those?

    No longer worth the wait

Wow. I've tried to be patient since August, particulartly after being misled by the box sticker that says 'RTAS/AU *availalbe* at website', patient thru month after month of slipped release dates, and patient after a partially working AU release. Now an annoucement of a release that STILL doesn't support RTAS, and has loop time scale feature that's so tricky, estimating a delivery date is beyond the range of possiblies at NI. Add to that I've still yet to get a second version of Absynth2 working on my laptop for live use (still no response from NI registration folks), so another rehearsal, and another opportunity to try to incorporate this 'amazing' instrument live has slipped by.

Well I'm done. There are other products out there that work, and I'm off to find them.

Good luck, NI, you desperately need it.

Thanks for the info Jake. ;-)

Thanks for the info Jake. ;-)

On the progress of Absynth 2 update.

Hopefully key commands are added back for the edit windows ala Absynth 1 so we can navigate quicker to the different edit windows using our qwerty boards instead of having to use the mouse when we want to navigate to the different edit windows. ;-|

    Patience is a true virtue ? ;-|

    God Bless.

    One Love.

    Phillip,

    Hello Everyone,

I'll try to directly answer as many of your requests as possible regarding what the update will and won't have.

Moongerm - Absynth plug-in will now receive on all MIDI channels, not just channel 1.

Cory & nreyes - RTAS support is unfortunately not planned for the 2.04 release. It will come next.

jg_music - Navigator and CPU meter positions/state are now saved. The resize-boxes couldn't be removed, however, for technical reasons.

scottm - Sorry, no DP4 support. Absynth AU is based on Emagic's SDK, which is incompatible with MOTU's SDK. Since significant portions of the plugin will need to be rewritten from scratch, this update will take some time.

mayan - we're planning to address the Sonar 3 issues before release, but this has not been completed yet.

Phillip - key commands are back!

machinesworking... - Sorry, there is still no track automation in Logic. This will come at the same time that the AU is made DP compatible. We can't put automation in now because then the new DP-compatible plugin won't be able to read the older plugin's automation. If you need to use automation in Logic, we recommend using hyperdraw to control Absynth's MIDI sliders.

Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding as we work hard on this update! Please feel free to ask me if you have any other questions.

    Sincerely,

    Jake
