Hi, I currently have a S61 MK2, but i'm thinking of upgrading to the 88 version.
So I know I can migrate the HW license to the buyer of my S61, but what with the Komplete select license.
Can I keep my existing one (because I already upgraded this to Komplete 12) and give the buyer the license
that comes with the 88 version?

Would be much easier in my opinion.

    Thanks for any tip/help/insight/...

I guess no. But if you buy S88 before you sell S61, there should be no problém. The upgrade is not bound to particular Komplete Select, any Komplete Select will do.

Maybe it would be even possible to sell S61 and buy S88 afterwards, but you would be warned by NI, that your licence to Komplete will become invalid. (It would become valid again after buying S88.) But maybe NI would insist that you sell S61 together with upgrade to K12 (in that case).

    PS.
The NI rules concerning SW sold together with HW have been relaxed quite recently for certain SW/HW. So, maybe you may thansfer S61 and keep licence for Komplete Select. You would have to ask.

But for sure works: Buy S88 and then sell S61.

    Ok, thank you.

But my idea is to buy the S88 at the moment the buyer comes to get my 61 keys (money wise) So I would be able to give him the
new license the day after my S88 arrives.

Well, NI sometimes makes Licence Transfer within few hours, sometimes it takes few days...
So, if the buyer may wait up to two, three days (in the worst case), than no problém.

Also, you may ask NI. Maybe you may keep the licence that goes with S61 (new owner would get new one) and receive new one that goes with S88. So, you would have two licences and buyer one.

I have no practical experience with this type of HW transfer. I have read about this possibility only here on the forum....

This is pretty easy actually - you don't have to touch your software license at all. You can transfer the hardware serial to the new owner and as soon as he adds the transfer ID, he will get the software again. When you add your S88, you will also get Komplete Select if it's a different version than the one you have kept. Hope it makes sense :)

It does ! Thank you Matt.

    I'm upgrading soon.

ps : Guy Michelmore, whom I follow on YT, uses the 88 version and it is not only the weighted keybed I'm looking for but also the 88 keys.
No more transpose up or down to see all the keyswitches and so on...

Hope you'll enjoy the keyboard Paul! Not having to go up and down the octaves for the keyswitches is definitely a treat.

Yes, and much better keybed makes it even better. I have moved from S61 to S88 and it made me happy. The only downsize is that it is huge and heavy (which is understandable, of course), so it is not travelmate at all. For that purpose I have old S25.

By the way, will S25 Mk2 come one day? Would be cool.

Good question - I have a feeling the A25 is kinda doing the job for users trying to stick to 25 keys. I'm not sure it would make sense to have 25 keys in the S-Series version but I could be wrong.

Two more displays would be cool, but might be too expensive... But it might go well with Maschine+. So, if M+ will be success, then maybe S25 MK2 might become true....

I'd really like to see an MK3 of the S49,61, and 88 that have 8 Maschine pads on the left and some faders off to the right. There's so much wasted space on the S-Series keyboards.

some of us use the space for custom midi controllers for articulations, like with spitfire libs, etc.

if you got the customer survey about future keyboards, which NI sent last week, be sure to give them feedback on what you want in mk3

You mean like to rest another smaller midi keyboard on top of it? There are multi-tiered stands for that. I'd rather the top of my keyboard be used for actual functions vs as a glorified coffee table, all due respect.

I did not get the survey for keyboards. I did get one for Maschine some time ago, which was pretty much useless because they sent it out like 2 weeks before Maschine+ was announced, lol. Why gather feedback from your users right before introducing a new product vs a couple years before release when the feedback could make a difference?

I actually specifically said I didn't care about standalone and would love to see more focus on the software itself. Then 2 weeks later Maschine+ is announced. Didn't seem like my voice was heard in that particular survey, haha.

No, not additional keyboards, but custom midi controllers like streamdeck, or small controllers with sliders and buttons for customizable control of extended features of pro level sample libraries. Anyway that is what some of us use the space for on the S88mk2.

Fair enough, but I'd rather use my $100 desk for that and have more functionality on the $1,000 keyboard.

Question for Matt @ NI : I recently purchased an S88 and have a license for K13 Select sitting in my account. I already have K13 UCE and have zero plans to ever sell the keyboard. Is this license for K13 Select tied to my hardware, or can I give it to a friend in need?

The license is not transferable actually since it is triggered by the hardware. It's not tied to the hardware but unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to give it to another user.

    Matt,
I am selling S25, asked for Licence Transfer, but only HW key is in the Transfer Code I received. In past, there was also accompanying SW (around 5 SW licences came with S25).

What gets new user? And what stays on my account?

I would like, new user received all SW that came with S25. And I would prefer, if SW is removed from my account. My NI account has close to 80 items, so few less would make it less cluttered.

    Hey Kubrak!
Since this is an older device, the best would be to clarify it with our registration team directly. We're available via chat here: https://bit.ly/NIsupport_RA

Yeah, but currently it isn’t registered to my account? It shows as unregistered under my products and serials, so it don’t think I’d need to transfer the license, but just provide my friend the serial?
