    Hi,

Apologies if this is a repetitive question on the forums, I couldn't find anything.

I'm thinking about upgrading from Traktor Scratch Duo to Scratch Pro for the extra software features. I obviously have an Audio 4 DJ, but don't particularly want to upgrade to an Audio 8 DJ.

My question is will everything still work, like the regular vinyl control, but limited to two decks rather than four?

    Cheers, Andy

Yes. You will only be able to use 2 timecode decks at once, but if you forgo timecode and use midi or keyboard you could still use 4 decks.

If you have a 3 channel mixer you could possibly combine timecode + 2 internal decks. Using deck duplicate for one armed bandit madness.

With an external mixer you can still only output 2 channels of audio to it from an audio4.

Cause of Audio DJ 4 & not the mixer right? you can only output 2 decks no mater what? Since you can only select one sound card at a time... cause I upgraded to try and use send effects only to discover I need Audio DJ 8 also (it appears)

Yeah, you nailed it. You could technically aggregate soundcards to get 3 outs, but... you'd lose scratch because Traktor wouldn't identify it as an audio 4/8...

Ok, I'm trying to get this, as I don't quite get it.

Audio 4 can only do 2 outputs, but maybe three if you forgo timecode?

Internally you could do how many channels?

one bug in traktor scratch pro tho - for users of audio4dj

i recently upgraded from duo to pro and found out about this:

the setup wizard DOES NOT allow you to choose the audio4dj (WHY?)
so basically NI assumes that if you use TSP you have the audio8dj? maybe?

so you have to choose traktor scratch - audio8dj (it will say unplugged) and then manually choosing audio4dj from the list

i hope this will be fixed on the next upgrade? or is this just on my computer? can someone else try this and let me know?

That's odd. I upgraded from TSD to TSP last month. I'm very happy with it. When I installed the 1.2.6 TSP, the set up wizard showed 3 souncard options to select and the X1 controller. I checked both the ADJ4 & ADJ8 installation drivers and the X1 as well. The installation went really fine without any problems.

But you can still only use one sound card right? No card aggregation.. Or can you?

    Thanks

@dj_walshyboy - no aggregation with scratch

@gdawon - internally you could have all 4 decks because you'll be outputting 2 channels - master and monitor

For example - I'm presently using 2x1210s and a VCI-100 to control the internal mixer. I use an audio8 but I could just as easily use an audio4.

yeah that is odd - i tried again just now and theres no "audio4dj" option at all (in the setup wizard)

i have to always choose audio8 dj and then manually go to settings and choose audio4dj

weird, no big deal tho, everything is working perfect at 1.5ms , just dont understand why i dont see the audio4dj while everyone else does
