They most certainly will. There´ll probably be a grace period though.

Hmm, let's see, you don't suppose the grace period will be 14 months???

    :) :)

    LOL!

    Of course they will.....

    In this case $119 / 99 Euro

Personally I'm getting a bit sick of paid update after paid update.....

I only got Absynth 2 a couple of months ago as part of the Komplete 2 package.

& that included Battery as well, another product that would have been being developed into another paid upgrade at the time it was being sold....

    Great products.
    Crap customer service.

Maybe you didn't read to the end?

"Information on the Grace Period will follow."

Also it's not being said whether there will be a download version available like it was for Absynth 2.

Still... Their grace period is not gonna be a few months. I think that was NI's plan as to selling off Komplete 2 Prelaunch and then a few months later update some of their plugins, so the people who think they got a good deal, now must pay full price for the updates. That's business for ya...

Would be nice if NI offered some sorta deal for Komplete 2 users, but that is not likely. We certainly do have much more to tend to then single plugin users.

It looks like Komplete 2 users actually are about to get some kind of deal. From the latest newsletter:

    "6. What's next?
For current owners of the NI KOMPLETE 2 bundle, we are
    currently preparing particularly attractive update
offers. In addition to this, new customers buying
NI KOMPLETE 2 will now receive the current version of
all products included in the bundle."

Yeh.. I've seen that, but you never know what that means. They could just mean... Yeh, Komplete 2 users get same upgrade costs as normal users. I dunno, I guess only time will tell.

Yes, I think that was NI's plan as well.....

As for buisness? Short-term yes..... but for a sustainable long-term plan?

I'm a Komplete 2 owner.... but my opinion would be the same if I wasn't:

I personally think that NI should offer more attractive offers to the people who have taken the plunge and gotten Komplete or Komplete 2 bundles.

These people have provided more to NI's coffers and shown more customer loyalty (?) with buying their whole suite of software.

If I look at what I have purchased from Native Instruments.... it adds up to a lot of money and then when I get stung for more for an update here and there....

Especially with all the various things I've had to put up with....

    Best,
    Rusty

    +1

NI would also benefit from reduced upgrade fees for komplete users by boosting sales of their flagship suite.

they'd make more $$ in the long run.

its a win win for everyone.

I think it's much more likely that the beancounters who run NI will think "those customers are locked into our full range and will not be abandonning their investment". Having already committed to everything your negotiating power with NI is almost zero.

There's no reason for NI to offer a good deal. Historically you can see that "win-win" is not something NI is particularly interested in.

"NI bank balance win" is the only concern.

that's precisely how I feel having bought Kontakt and see no updates for all the bugs.

my point is that a small discount might encourage more users to buy the komplete package.

imho, any good business org gives special incentives to its best customers.

you could be right about NI not caring about customers.

however, i'll reserve my judgement until i've had a bad experience with their customer service (cs). i've really not had a reason to use their cs yet.

In fact I've found their customer service to be excellent - much better than many other companies.

But, perhaps more in a marketing sense, NI is notorious for leeching the maximum amount of cash from all its customers. Quite sickening how greedy they are.

The Kontakt 1.5 upgrade was a classic in that regard. Everyone pays for an upgrade of which the only significant addition was OSX compatibility. But you felt obliged to upgrade since all the new sample content wouldn't work properly with anything below 1.5 (such as GPO).

They are miserable dogs, but still make good products...

thx for the clarification - i understand.

NI can't entirely enjoy reading posts like this. good customer service but a lousy rep for the value of their updates? that is not a good thing.

@ least we know they'll be in business to support their products. i hope the support appears in more affordable and relevant updates.

for instance, i'm curious to hear reviews on absynth3.

    thx again.

NI could @ least offer discounts if you buy more than 1 upgrade @ a time.

they could offer different komplete upgrade packages for komplete users or they could allow discounts for multiple upgardes @ one time.

they have such a wide variety of products. It only makes sense (& $$) to offer a variety of upgrade options.

    sorry to ramble on...

    Hmmm...

A lot of other people (including me) are having a lot of serious problems with Battery 2.

To the point that it is totally unusable.

NI have been informned but 3 weeks later I still have 2 copies of Battery 2 (US$135 + US$25) that are unusable.

    What are you using?

    Agreed on that.

I wouldn't call it rumours though.

Please take note of my previous posts in this thread regarding a paid update from Absynth 2 to Absynth 3.

View it in the context that I paid for an upgrade for Battery 2 that (for me) dosn't work.

View it that I'm not going to pay for an upgrade to Absynth 3 on the basis that Battery 2 is worthless to me.

    Best,
    Rusty
