"for me" would have made it. ;-)

i use it on dual 2,5-G5 which is came "bundled" with the battery 2-, sx3-, and logic7- updates only two weeks ago. i may well have overseen a performance issue. it doesn´t crash for me at all though. also, so far i think i only used it in sx2/3, not in logic. i will have a look on the performance meters next week and report back if you want.

oops this is still the absynth-forum....

    sorry...

    Again, agreed.

No further conversation on Battery 2 here, I'll leave it in the correct forum.

Like I said, I won't even contempalte an upgrade to Absynth 3 till it's sorted.

    Peace,
    Rusty

@ the Komplete2 users, go to products>komplete2>2005 care(or whatever theyre calling it. $60 before jan 15th to get a3 and b2, PLUS any other charged updates in 2005. its not that bad.

i dont use battery, but will do it for a3,
which brings me to my question,,

once upgrading to absynth 3 can you still run v2?what will happen to existing projects containing instances of a2?

    thanks

whadya'know! somebody @ NI must have been listening!

the komplete users upgrade package is upfront on the NI homepage.

    this makes my day.

the a3 upgrade looks good. let's hope it works.

i'll be even more surprised if they produce another upgrade during 2005 for any of the komplete products.

this seems to be heading in the direction of a subscription/service fee to keep current.

    What $60 ?? It's $339 with the B2 and A3, and $279 without.
    ( I know, it's a $60 difference, but it's not $60 for B2&A3 only.)

So now we have to pay for major upgrades in advance?!? if any....
(Nothing mentioned about what we can expect in major updates for 2005.)

Am I missing something here, or what?

I just filled the online shop form for Komplete Care - came out as 200 euro (I'm upgraded Komplete 2 Battery to v2).

    Where's the 60 figure from ?

Ah - here's the official pricing (from FAQ):

"NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005 Special Pre-Launch Offer:
    Recommended retail price: € 299,- / $ 339,-. This package includes BATTERY 2 and ABSYNTH 3!
Availability Europe: Limited offer valid from December 6, 2004 until January 15, 2005.
Availability USA/worldwide: Limited offer valid from December 15, 2004 until January 15, 2005.

    NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005:
    Recommended retail price: € 249,- / $ 279.- US Dollar.
Available worldwide as of January 16, 2005"

So I get the 99 euros removed as I already bought this.

Therefore it's 200 euros for the Absynth 3 upgrade and whatever else MAY come along in 2005.

    That's called gambling isn't it ?

A3 installs into a separate folder, and the A3 .dlls(there's three of them-the instrument, the fx and the surround sound .dlls)have different ID numbers than the A2 .dll.

Thanks for the reply...the fact that A2 remains available (especially in the event of A3 software bugs, etc.) makes the upgrade more appealing to me personally.

    Confused..............

I'm a bit confused about the "NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005 Special Pre-Launch Offer"

I own both Battery/Battery 2 standalone and Komplete 2. (Seperate)

I brought the US$119 update for Battery.

I also brought the US$9 update for Battery with Komplete 2

The Absynth 2 to 3 update should cost me US$119 (I presume as a reigstered user of Absynth 2 in my Komplete 2 package)

    -----

The prelaunch offer would cost me US$339

But would I get a rebate on my (standalone) Battery 2 purchase of US$119 ?

Or is only my Battery 2 update for Komplete 2 of US$9 valid? and thus not applicable? (Bear in mind there is also US$16 shipping, converted to Australian Dollars = not so cheap after all)

I have already bought the BATTERY 2 Grace Period or the BATTERY 2 Supplement for € 19.- / $ 19.- or € 9.- respectively. Do I still receive a rebate on the NI KOMPLETE CARE Special Pre-Launch Offer?

No, in this instance you do not qualify for a further discount. However, it is still worth buying the Special Pre-Launch Offer as you will effectively receive the ABSYNTH 3 update for half price.

So why buy Komplete Care 2005 for US$339 and get Absynth 3 when the update is only US$119?

(And I'd have two copies of Battery 2 for Komplete 2.... be kind of worthless then?)

Or get it for US$279 and not get the Absynth 3 update at all.....

And not knowing if I would get anything at all for that money.......

I can't see any commitment from NI anywhere that says that they will release updates for any products at all during 2005.... only that if they do....

And if they do release more stuff:

What happens if I buy the NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005 Special Pre-Launch Offer after a major product update has been released?

You will receive all relevant updates for 2005 as well as the BATTERY 2 and ABSYNTH 3 updates regardless of the purchase date. Even if you buy NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005 (the Special Pre-Launch Offer ends January 15, 2005) at a later date you will still receive all the relevant 2005 updates.

So that says that regarldess of when I buy it, I will receive Battery 2 and Absynth 3 anyway.

So why pay US$339 now (before Jan 15th) when you can pay US$279 afterwards and still get Battery 2 and Absynth 3

    Confused?

    I certainly am.....

Rusty, it's real simple, even if NI's summary doesn't make it seem that way. The pre-offer contains *more* stuff than the "regular" offer. That is, it contains upgrades to Battery and Absynth. Some people will benefit from taking the pre-offer, some will not. I won't benefit, because I already get the upgrades... I will be registering my copy of Komplete 2 within the next day or two. So, it would be crazy for me to get the pre-offer.

If you need the upgrades to Battery and Absynth, then the pre-offer is for you. If you have already upgraded Battery, you will get your upgrade price (whatever you paid) rebated, UNLESS you got a free upgrade. Then, there's nothing to rebate.

    What else is confusing??

Because most Komplete 2 purchasers (particularly those who bought before the Komplete 2 "deadline"), will not already have the Battery 2 and Absynth 3 upgrades. So, the pre-offer is a way for those users to get the upgrades cheap.

The Komplete Care package technically is for all 2005 releases, so Battery and Absynth upgrades are not in there, because they are 2004 releases. But a lot of Komplete 2 owners will want them. NI has given you a short time to get in on this deal.

There is one confusing aspect. Just like the original Komplete 2 LTO deal, if you can find a retail boxed version of the LTO Komplete Care package in a store somewhere, and buy it for whatever they are asking, then you will be allowed to *register* it after the "deadline" of Jan 15th. This is done because NI wants retailers to be able to sell out their stock, rather than returning it. So, the Jan 15th deadline is only if you buy direct from NI. If you can find a retail copy, you might have longer. It's a bit of a gamble, but some people were able to buy Komplete 2 LTO after the deadline this way.

Mods, please correct any of this, if I am wrong....

This was taken from the Komplete Care 2005 FAQ off the main page:

You will receive all relevant updates for 2005 as well as the BATTERY 2 and ABSYNTH 3 updates regardless of the purchase date. Even if you buy NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005 (the Special Pre-Launch Offer ends January 15, 2005) at a later date you will still receive all the relevant 2005 updates.

    Are you still confused??

There are 2 versions of KC. There is "NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005 Special Pre-Launch Offer" (which is what I am calling the "LTO"), and then there is "NI KOMPLETE CARE 2005" (which is what I am calling "regular").

The "LTO" version includes some 2004 upgrades (Battery and Absynth). The "regular" version DOES NOT.

When they say "will still receive all the relevant 2005 updates", they DO NOT mean "including Battery and Absynth", because those are 2004 updates.

Read the NI text you posted again... they are saying the same thing as me.

Otherwise, why would the LTO version cost *more*?? If both packages were exactly the same, the the pre-offer should cost *less*, right?? But the pre-offer covers all the 2004 updates as well!!

    Hope that does it!
