usb 2 hubs dont work too ive tried it on usb 3 ports and usb 2 port. result was bluescreen on usb 2 port and no device listed in usb 3 ports.

i also tried an older driver before isochronous strem or something was implemented. then i dont get a bluescreen but the sound that is coming out of headphones or boxes is like krrrrkkssskkrrrr^^.

dont try this old driver yourself i had a locked up system where i had to revert my whole windows only to uninstall both again the usb 3 and the old NI driver.

only solution still is to uninstall usb 3 extensible driver so all ports work as usb 2 ports.

    Okay, clear.

But uninstalling the driver also isn't a failproof workaround, as I mentioned earlier: the S4 loses connection to Traktor every now and then. Not something you want during a live performance, so I'm sad to say: I'm too afraid to use the S4 for live performances; still sticking to old trusty vinyl which always works. Such a shame...

Tested yesterday: using an external sound card also doesn't solve the problem, so apparently audiostreaming over USB 3.0 isn't the issue.

This is getting weirder by the minute...

How do you come to this conclusion? If your external soundcard uses audio streaming then it will have the same problem.

It's an RME Babyface, which is topclass gear by a topclass hardware producing company. And they DO take care of their customers wishes instantly.

Besides that: connecting and using the Babyface, even in Traktor, doesn't produce BSOD's. Firing up the S4 after that does. Open and shut case if you ask me.

    Nope not open and shut.
The s4 is a usb 2.0 device. The babyface soundcard is different and actually rated to work with usb3.0 chipsets.(very rare).
Not many soundcards supporting streaming over usb 3.0. But the device needs to be made to work. Not a simple driver update!

Just scroll down on this link. It specs the babyface as a usb3.0 compatible device. http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_babyface.php

USB Made by RME*. The Babyface provides RME's unmatched USB pro audio technology for revolutionary ultra-low latencies on Mac and PC------
"* The Babyface is compatible to USB 3 chipsets."
** Minimal latencies are not guaranteed as they depend on the specific computer and application.

This is the main confusion. People are confusing devices with software. usb 3.0 is a device issue not a driver or software issue.

Thanks for pointing me to a usb 3.0 soundcard though. Currently Ni does not have a specific usb 3.0 device.

I really wish firewire had worked for high speed. usb 2.0 is just fine for midi and audio streams. This usb 3.0 in my opinion just needs to be an option or addition. Not the standard. 2.0 has done just fine.

I love the speed for hardrives. But to make it all ports is dumb. I only need one ext. HD. the rest is just fine as 2.0. I dont see the point. of 3.0 as exclusive.

Tim you have 2 devices. The s4 is a 2.0 device. The babyface is 3.0 compatible. So if the s4 reacts as bsod it is a compatabilty issue.

Being compatible and officially supporting are two completely different things. Just saying.

Funny thing: the Babyface came out in march 2010, the Traktor Kontrol S4 in november 2010; more than half a year later. So what's up with the pathetic excuse that NI didn't know how USB 3.0 would be implemented? RME managed to have it working perfectly fine, no matter what USB-controller.

how many times do i need to repeat that the audio interface that was built into the S4 is basically the audio 4 that was released 2009?

i think for the moment, everything is said and gets only repeated. maybe countzero has the nerves to be in this thread again - i dont, therefore it's closed now.

compatibility of the NI interfaces with UB3.0 regarding OSX can be found here:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/support/online-help/compatibility/mac-os-x-compatibility/

information on the win side will follow soon.
