I just purchased an S4 Kontroller this past weekend. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows 7. I have 4gigs of RAM and a 320gig HD. For some reason, I am having USB dropouts every so often. I have read the threads on USB dropouts but I just dropped almost $1000 on this thing and I really don't want to drop another $120 on a sound card. Is there anything I can do to avoid these without having to spend more money? I am new to Traktor from Serato so any info would be of great assistance!

Apparently, you have to wait for new version of S4 driver for Windows.((

    I have the same problem.

This was told to me by NI tech support

There is a possibility that some hardware device is interfering or conflicting with the USB audio stream. There is an application you can download to help evaluate and monitor your computer's capability to stream real time audio. Download and run the "latencymon" application from (highlight and copy this link then paste it into your browser):

    http://resplendence.com/latencymon

Please read the article on the website to help you find the root cause of audio dropouts, clicks and pops. In addition follow the advice for deactivating devices in the device manager to find the trouble making devices

I would surgest a complete format of your laptop and put on a clean version of windows 7 and Traktor S4 alone and your music collection and try it then.... this will prove if it's something other than windows on your pc causing an issue ....
this sorted it for me.... runs great now..!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L550 and experienced those issues - got it all sorted though and now run my S4 without a problem.

Currently this is what I do:
    1) In Device Manager disable the Microsoft ACPI compliant control battery
    2) Ensure the Wireless adapter and NIC are disabled
    3) Run GameBooster 2 to stop unneccessary services and processes
    4) Start Traktor S4

I run this on a freshly installed copy of Windows 7 (64-bit) but can also run it without problems on another (not fresh) install of Windows 7 (32-bit). Having a dedicated install of Windows 7 also means I can keep those devices permanently disabled so I don't have to mess about every time I want to use the S4.

Incidentally, the lowest I've been able to get my sample rate down to is 256. Anything lower and I'll start seeing buffer underruns.
