Use Kontakt 5 database with Kontakt 6?

    Hi all,

I tagged my sounds in Kontakt 5 and established an extensive database over the years. This database does not show up in Kontakt 6 but I am not going to tag all my sounds again. So the question is: Is there a way to make Kontakt 6 use my precious Kontakt 5 database?

    Thank you

You might want to copy your K5 database files to K6 database folder. Dunno about Mac, but on Windows it's:

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5\Db\

    goes to:

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Native Instruments\Kontakt\Db\

I'm on macOS, but I've found the folders. Thank you!
Now that I think about it: This way I would lose the tagging of the K6 factory library. I guess there is no way to import one db into another or merge them somehow?

Dear Good evil dragon, is there a tutorial you would recommend on using the Database for Kontakt 6. I've looked at the manual but it's quite a read!

Database didn't change at all in years, but you'd need to be way more specific in what you want to know.

Well when I add a say (non NI) vocal library to the DB, it doesn't show under vocal/solo voice or even Vendor in the Instr tab. Do I need to add the samples or have I not added enough metadata? Thanks

Most libraries out there don't have any database metadata in them so you'd have to add that yourself.

Thanks good evil dragon. I presume I have to do it per instrument (.nki) within each library?

Dear good evil dragon. Can you tell me please why in Kontakt running as a plugin within Studio One I cannot operate the "from % To%" when I am trying to affect a parameter? It is greyed out. Many thanks.

You first need to select one of automation slots that have been assigned to something, then select the assignment in the lower (smaller) frame, only then you can adjust from-to.

Thank you. Have you any idea why the "From % To %" doesn't stop at the number I set it to? (even when I get it unhighlighted) It just keeps going to 100% even when I set it to a much lower value. I'm very grateful. (This happens in both Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt when used as a plugin within Studio one - However it works fine when I use Kontakt as a stand alone). Many thanks.

That I don't know. Works fine over here...

Maybe try and record a screen capture of what you're doing so that we have a clearer view on what's going on?

Thank you EvilDragon. I guess my problem is that I don't understand the differences really between using automation inside Komplete Kontrol and inside Kontakt (and then you can use Kontakt "inside" Komplete Kontrol). I really don't get the concept. However I do understand that libraries inside Kontakt are not VSTs. My problem is that even when I move the "From% - To%" in the bottom left of Kontakt/Komplete Kontrol.... it doesn't matter what % I insert as the parameter (in this case "color") still goes all the way to 100%. So inserting "From 28%" as in this example, means nothing because my assigned knob on my S88 Keyboard still goes all the way to 100%. I made some screenshots to see if you can offer help. I noticed just there however that if I loaded another sample, say Musicalsampling Medusa Boutique drums, that it does work however the Noire Piano library is very important to me and it among others doesn't work.
    Many thanks again.

Right so that CC14 assignment exists in Komplete Kontrol, NOT Kontakt, that's why you cannot adjust From-To for it in Kontakt.

Thanks my friend. However even inside Kontakt only (no KK) I cannot operate it as a plugin unless I work it as a standalone unit. That's no good to me. Still trying to figure this one out.

I just updated Komplete Ultimate from version 11 to 13 (Windows). I now have Kontakt 6, and when I launch Kontakt 6, I am not seeing most of the instruments I have in Kontakt 5. Is there a simple way to get Kontakt 6 to appear with everything that I have in Kontakt 5?

I copied the three files from the Kontakt 5 DB location to the Kontakt 6 location, and Kontakt 6 appears to show a total number of items in the database that reflects what I had from Kontakt 5, plus a few more. How can I be certain I have everything I should be having?
