Is it possible to connect and use the audio kontrol 1 with a 5.1 stereo system like the Logitech Z-5500? If yes, how do I got to connect it with the AK1, since it got more than 2 cables.

    Greetings,

    Welcome =)

AK 1 won't work with a 5.1 system; you only have four outputs.

    related question

I'll be ordering powered monitors in the near future; however, in the meantime I'm interested in getting my Klipsch computer speakers working with Audio Kontrol.

I assume the 1/4" outs marked 1 and 2 correspond to L/R channels? In this case, I'll somehow (through the use of adaptors, presumably) need to get my male 1/8" speaker connection into 2 female 1/4" inputs corresponding to L/R, yes?

    Questions:
    a) will something like the following work? female 1/8" to male RCA L/R, then get individual mono RCA female to 1/4" male adaptors?
    b) balanced vs. unbalanced

As you can probably guess, I'm new to most of this stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Side, side note (sorry for the double post): I think I'll need something that is basically the inverse of this:

but can't seem to find anything.

    Yep.
    Yep
Adapters like that (and your Klipsch's cabling) are unbalanced. The trade off's a little more noise.

Yep. The big problem is getting something with a female minijack. I used to know someone who sold them; if I remember who it was, I'll post the link.

Yes, that's been the tricky part. However, I'm thinking something like this will work:

    http://www.guitarcenter.com/Monster...--1-4--Male-Mono-Y-Adapter-330056-i1172767.gc

As you can no doubt guess from the URL, it is a female stereo 1/4" to two mono male 1/4". All I'd need then is an easy-to-find 1/8" to 1/4" adapter, which I think I have somewhere around here from an old pair of headphones.

Think this might be better than introducing RCAs into the chain?

    Thanks!

I have a Logitech 5.1 system (z5300) and the above mentioned solution definately works. The Logitech sub has a little switch on the back converting the speakers to a 2.1 setup. You can then just plug the green logitech (front speakers i think) cable into the dongle linked above and then into the AK1. Probably not the best solution however it will certainly work
