I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm having trouble finding an answer. I own komplete 11 and want to pick up a used s49 mk 1 to pair with my maschine. Since I already own a full version of komplete 11 can I just pick up a used s49 with no software? I read komplete kontrol was included with komplete 11. Am I good to go or am I missing something? Thanks everyone!

We don't really recommend to purchase keyboards without all the associated licenses (Hardware + Komplete Select) but it would work ;)
You should already have Komplete Kontrol in your Native Access if you own Komplete 11.

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for the quick reply. I just wanted to keep my options open now that I'm starting to look on the used market.

    Thanks!

Matt, one last question. If I found a used s49 mk1 that still had the hardware serial number registered to another account, can I still use that with komplete kontrol or my copy of maschine? Or does the serial number have to be transferred to my account? If that's something that can be done. Last question I promise. Lol

Same, we wouldn't recommend purchasing a product if you are not able to get the license properly transferred to your account. If you decide otherwise, it would technically still be useable.

Probably should read what I type before posting haha
Obviously better purchase products with the right licenses transferred into your account!

Yes, the Komplete Select bundle would need the hardware to be activated but for some reason, you'll still see plenty of "hardware only" devices. It should be coming with one serial for hardware and one for software but the seller still needs to go through the license transfer process. I assume they just keep the licenses or are misinformed about the steps.

Hi I have a similar question . I have a used S61 and also a S88 keyboard that I also bought used last year. I am now selling the S88 . I never got the select software with either one as I already had Komplete ultimate 11 and the Komplete kontrol software was already in my account . If I transfer the hardware registration for the S88 to the buyer will this enable him to download the Komplete kontrol software for the keyboard even though he is not getting the select software ?

I believe if he registers the keyboard, he'll get the select software.

I'm not sure about the select software since I didn't have that . I'll wait to hear that from the horse's mouth which is someone from the NI support team. I am just hoping he at least can get the komplete kontrol software to host the keyboard once the hardware is registered , otherwise it is just a generic controller and then what is the point of owning an NI keyboard if you can't use it's main browsing and light guide functions etc.

Did you bought both of the Hardware second hand?? . than the previous owner should have given you 2 serial numbers one for hardware and one for software. or transfered the license for software (unless he kept the software itself)

I guess Matt than already answered you question.

"the Komplete Select bundle would need the hardware to be activated but for some reason, you'll still see plenty of "hardware only" devices. It should be coming with one serial for hardware and one for software but the seller still needs to go through the license transfer process "

In that case the one you are gonna sell it to is out off luck. because he will get an "device only" as you did not got the software either from the previous owner

    thats what im thinking..

If you transfer the hardware serial, the buyer would be missing the software unless he has another Komplete bundle. That's always the issue with buying and reselling "hardware only" keyboards, you'll need to make sure the buyer can actually use it.

That works only for new unit obviously. For second-hand deals, you'll have to transfer both hardware + Komplete select licenses. If you are missing the latest then the buyer would need to have Komplete Kontrol already.

matt speaking of software bundles...is NI having some sort of discount periods? Black Friday.ect ect... i really, realy, realy like to have the full version off komplete 12 but its kinda out off budget right now..399 to upgrade from Select is a bit much since i previously spend over €515 for the keyboard :( so i can save up for that period

Bit off topic here but yes we usually have discounts few times a year. Periods are not really communicated but if you check the history, it should give you an idea on what to expect :) Feel free to shoot a PM if you have questions that might not fit in a thread
