Matt, I'm still a bit confused . I'm not talking about the komplete select software products as I never received those . If the new owner registers the hardware serial , are you saying he will not get the komplete kontrol software for the keyboard ? What if he owns arturia or other 3rd party products that work with KK software are you saying they will not work with keyboard ? Then what is the purpose of the hardware serial other than a 1 year warranty for the original owner which is over anyway.? Is the only way to get the the keyboard software to own a komplete bundle ?

The issue here is that you are missing the software serial. The hardware serial would trigger the software serial after a new purchase. You would then end up with the hardware serial and one serial for Komplete Select. In a normal situation, you'd transfer those to the buyer and everything would work fine. If you are missing the software serial because you purchased a hardware only device, then your buyer would obviously have to own KK to use it. The KK software is not provided with 3rd party instruments but you can find it in Komplete bundle or hardware device (Maschine & Keyboards)

Ok this seems like a lame policy if you want someone to use your keyboards with NKS enabled products . I am not going to transfer my komplete ultimate bundle so what is the cheapest option to get the keyboard software ? Does he have to buy komplete select if he does now any other products or are there any other options ? A kontakt owner would not be able to use this keyboard ?

We do want people to use our keyboard and our software is ALWAYS bundle with the keyboard. In case of a second-hand purchase, you would need to be sure to get all the licenses. Even if you own Komplete Ultimate, it would impact your reselling options.

If your buyer does not own Komplete Kontrol, then yes Kompete 12 Select seems like the most suitable option at the moment.

Hi Matt...OK, I have a sort of similar situation I am juggling here but not a license issue as such. I have an S49 Mk 1 which I bought around a year ago as part of my new studio setup but never got to use it (still sealed in box). I got busy with other things. It seems that I could sell this 'used' without any problem for the buyer as I haven't registered it? I want to buy a new S 61 MK 2 keyboard as I am a keyboard player mainly now and I own Komplete 11.

The other part of my question is...I want to but a new Maschine as well...I have the MK 1 but it seems I can't use it anymore. I want the new MK 3 anyway. So, because I need to reduce the overall cost would I get most or all of the benefits of both if I combined the S61 MK 2 Keyboard with a new Mikro? Or would I need to get the full Machine MK 3?

So, to sum up... 1) Selling a sealed never registered S49 MK 1 keyboard would be straight forward and the buyer would essentially be the first owner for license purposes?
and..2) Would the combo of the S61 MK 2 Keyboard plus a new Mikro give me all the benefits in combination as the keys plus Mashine MK3 would.

Oh and I am on a MacBook Pro 2017 with Mojave 10.14.1 Are there any issues between NI gear and this setup?

    Cheers. :)

i think because u did not register the keyboard thus not register the software u can sell this toghether.. so when the new owner register the keyboard he wil get automaticly the software that comes abundle with it ( iff it has a bundle) and iff u did not register both soft and harware

its like a new product than

but iff u have register or the software or the hardware.. u need to make sure when u sell this ..to transfer the license for soft and harware to new owner

Hi everyone, I'm a new member and I've go a lo o learn still.
I am planning to buy a second hand S61 MK2. The seller says that he cannot transfer the serialnumber because it is attached to his software. I have been working for a while now with Komplete 12 using my Yamaha PSR900. Can I buy the S61 MK2 without the serial license? Will the keyboars function properly?

    Do not buy.

you need the serial transfer or you cannot register it. You would need to own a Komplete bundle already to make use of it.

users are not suppose to sell hardware and keep the serial registration. Pretty sure that’s against NI policy

We always recommend NOT to purchase products without the license transfer ID for the hardware and software serial. In this particular case, it would still work since Komplete Kontrol is free and you already own Komplete 12.
