    Hi,

I was wondering if using the 64 bit Kontakt make a difference used in a 32-bit DAW. Should use it in DAW 64-bit to be able to use over 4GB ram if I am using Kontakt as VST plug-in. I am running Nuendo 4 32-bit version on VISTA 64 bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that there will only be one version of Kontakt, and that it will adapt accordingly. I am pretty sure that, in the scenario you posted, that Kontakt 3.5 will be able to address as much RAM as you have, even though Nuendo is running in 32-bit.

I have 3.5 installed and there are multiple .dll files for the options of KONTAKT, 8 OUT & 16 OUT ie a separate .dll for the 64 bit version that is called something like kontact_x64.dll. By default the 32 bit VST's are installed to your default VST location in the Program Files x86 folder while the 64 bit files are located in the default VST location under Program files

Nuendo 32bit cannot load any 64 bit native plugin (that appears as a plugin. dll file). 32bit only. There are of course some odd exceptions to this like "Play" which runs more like "host" on it's own.
